Join our friendly team at Cafe Yasuragi and Shoko — a modern Japanese cafe and takeaway concept at Millenia Walk serving Japanese comfort food, rice bowls, pastas, soups, coffee, matcha, desserts and drinks in a cosy environment. We are looking for a responsible, hardworking and passionate Commis Chef to support our kitchen operations. This role is suitable for candidates who enjoy cooking, are willing to learn, and can work well in a fast-paced team environment. Why You Will Love Working With Us Friendly and supportive working environment Modern Japanese cafe concept Convenient location, just a short walk from Promenade MRT Staff meals provided Learn Japanese cafe food preparation, kitchen operations and service standards Training and guidance provided by senior kitchen team members Opportunity to gain experience in both dine-in and takeaway operations as we have two concepts in Millenia Walk: Shoko and Cafe Yasuragi Good career development opportunity for candidates who wish to grow in the F&B kitchen line Job Responsibilities Assist in the preparation and cooking of food items under the supervision of senior chefs Prepare ingredients and mise en place for assigned sections Follow standard recipes, portioning and presentation guidelines to maintain consistency Support daily kitchen operations before, during and after service Ensure full awareness of menu items, recipes, methods of production and presentation standards Check and ensure adequate preparation of ingredients, equipment, inventory and supplies for smooth daily operations Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, kitchen equipment and storage areas Adhere to food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards at all times Support the kitchen team during busy service periods Assist with receiving, storing and checking ingredients when required Perform other ad-hoc kitchen duties as assigned Salary Full-Time $2,400–$3,800 per month, depending on experience Part-Time $12–$15 per hour, depending on experience Working Hours Full-Time 45 hours per week Rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays Part-Time Flexible scheduling Up to 35 hours per week Benefits Staff meals provided Annual leave Medical and dental benefits Friendly and supportive working environment Training and guidance provided Convenient town location, 1 minute from Promenade MRT Career progression opportunities for suitable candidates Requirements Food Safety and Hygiene Level 1 certification is mandatory Basic culinary training or relevant kitchen experience preferred Passion for cooking and willingness to learn Good understanding of food hygiene and safety practices Able to follow recipes, SOPs and instructions closely Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment Team player with good communication skills Physically fit and able to stand for long periods Able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays Positive and responsible working attitude Preferred Prior experience in cafe, restaurant or central kitchen operations Experience with Japanese food preparation, rice bowls, pasta, soups or cafe-style food Able to work independently after training Able to support both dine-in and takeaway kitchen operations Openness to work in front-of-house if there is an urgent need Willingness to learn multiple kitchen stations Workplace Details Cafe Yasuragi & Shoko Millenia Walk 9 Raffles Boulevard Singapore 039596 Applicants may be rostered across Cafe Yasuragi and Shoko based on operational requirements.
