M&E Specialist

About the role:

• Conduct condition assessments, inspections and diagnostics of M&E systems, including ACMV, electrical, mechanical ventilation and other building services installations across assigned schools.
• Identify defects, safety concerns, system inefficiencies, performance gaps and recurring breakdown trends, and recommend practical rectification or mitigation measures to maintain school operating continuity.
• Provide specialist support for critical faults, repeated M&E failures, service disruptions, planned shutdowns and recovery works, ensuring impact to students, staff and school operations is minimised.
• Carry out root-cause analysis for recurring M&E issues, review asset reliability trends and recommend preventive maintenance, replacement, improvement or lifecycle actions.
• Provide independent technical advice on repair, replacement, maintenance strategy, service recovery and improvement works, aligned with OEM standards, statutory requirements and contract obligations.
• Support FM teams, Project Managers, technicians, subcontractors and Employer Representatives in resolving complex M&E issues, planning technical works and coordinating access around school operating constraints.
• Prepare technical reports with findings, recommendations, cost implications, supporting documents and specialist endorsements where required.

Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Building Services or equivalent.
• Strong practical knowledge of M&E systems, statutory requirements, troubleshooting, maintenance planning and technical reporting.
• Relevant experience in facilities management, building services, engineering maintenance, technical consultancy or specialist contractor environments.
• Professional Engineer registration or relevant specialist licence/certification would be advantageous where required for specific works.
