Financial Automation Technical Specialist Responsibilities

• Map out the area's manual processes, prioritize them by impact, and maintain the automation backlog
• Design and implement applications in Power Apps to replace Excel controls
• Build automated flows for recurring downloads, consolidations, reconciliations, and follow-ups
• Develop automatic reconciliation models with accounting validation
• Implement control dashboards with the key indicators of each intervened process
• Document each solution and train the team on its use and maintenance
• Coordinate with IT regarding integration requirements, access, and data governance

Success indicators

• Manual hours eliminated per automated process
• Reduction in payment application time
• Reduction in volume and aging of open items
• Solutions in production and adopted by the team, not abandoned
• Intervened processes versus the prioritized backlog
• Indispensable: having worked on financial processes (portfolio, treasury, reconciliation, or accounting)

Requirements

Technical knowledge

• Power Apps — application development (indispensable)
• Power Automate — automated flows (indispensable)
• Power BI — data modeling and dashboards
• SAP — financial modules and data extraction
• Advanced Excel — financial modeling
• Desirable: SQL, Python, or RPA

Financial knowledge

• Bank reconciliation, open items, and payment application
• Ability to validate that an automation produces a result that is accounting-wise correct
• Reading of portfolio statements and aging

• Translates an operational need into a functional technical solution
• Works with non-technical users: understands the process before automating it
• Product orientation — delivers usable solutions, not prototypes
• Documents and transfers: what is built must be sustainable without the author
• Prioritizes with own judgment within a changing backlog
