SCIENCE LABORATORY SUPPORT

Location: Jurong West St 73

Contract Period: 4 January 2027 to 31 December 2027

Option to Extend: Contractor grants the Authority the option to extend the contract from 3 Jan 2028 to 29 Dec 2028.

Salary range from $2,500 - $2,800 per month depending on qualification and relevant working experience.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30am to 5:00pm, inclusive of 1-hour lunch
  • Friday: 7:30am to 4:30pm, inclusive of 1-hour lunch
  • Service is not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Provide teaching and learning support to teachers, e.g. preparation of resources/materials for Science laboratory activities and enrichment programme.
  • Label and keep records of existing/new Science teaching and learning materials and lab resources such as teachers’ desk copies, reference books, lab apparatus and chemicals etc. Maintain loan records of Science Resources.
  • Pack and organise resources in Science Rooms. Ensure Science rooms are clean and conducive for lessons.
  • Ensure lab equipment, materials/specimens are in good working condition. Conduct stock-take at least twice a year. Maintain stock book and breakage record to initiate ordering of replacements where necessary.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste materials such as sharp waste objects and chemicals.
  • Ensure safety of students in Science rooms. Report incidents to Science HOD/Level Head. Maintain laboratory incident log book.
  • Check that the first aid box is updated and safety devices such as emergency eye-washers, showers and fire extinguishers are in working condition.
  • Provide administrative/logistical support for Science competitions, assessments/programmes, collation of survey results and distribution of Science materials to students etc.
  • Assist in safety briefings such as Laboratory Safety and equipment awareness (e.g. Microscopes).
  • Any other duties assigned by the School.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Nitec/Higher Nitec (ITE) in Science or a related field, or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience assisting HOD-Science in the execution of daily Science Laboratory operational and administrative duties.
  • Experience supporting Science programmes, STEM & Sustainability projects and laboratory-based lessons in schools.
  • Experience creating digital resources such as presentations/videos according to Science Experiential Learning Experiences using PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in the preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Fluent in written and spoken
  • Good interpersonal, communication, planning and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with primary school students in school settings.
  • Able to plan and work independently as well as in a team.
  • Standard First Aid certification is not required but will be an advantage.
