Job Scope

Work closely with the Student Management Team (SMT), particularly the HOD Student Management, to support the holistic development and well-being of at-risk students.

Support students who exhibit disciplinary issues, irregular school attendance or are at risk of dropping out of school.

Investigative & Case Support

  • Assist to locate and manage students in holding rooms during case management, such as missing students, meltdowns and discipline cases.
  • Support preliminary investigations, fact-finding interviews and obtain students’ and witnesses’ statements where appropriate.
  • Compile evidence, prepare findings and recommendations for follow-up actions into structured incident reports.

Student Management &Supervision

  • Monitor and manage students serving detention, in-school suspension, reintegration programmes and time-out.
  • Apply restorative processes to guide students, assign meaningful and developmental tasks, and follow up with students who have missed their sessions.
  • Supervise and engage students with additional needs (SwANs) or selected case support.
  • Process late-coming students and maintain related records.
  • Locate unaccounted students when required.
  • Deter, detect and/or report inappropriate student activities, including vaping, smoking or the use of handphones during curriculum time.
  • Ensure students’ safety and well-being during school activities.

Student Engagement & Mentorship

  • Build positive relationships with students through regular check-ins, mentoring and social-emotional support.
  • Use counselling skills and techniques to encourage discussion of emotions and experiences, understand individual students’ educational environment and identify underlying issues for intervention planning.
  • Help students foster positive relationships with peers, teachers and their families and strengthen their sense of belonging to school and community.
  • Address student concerns such as stress and mental health, and equip students with coping strategies, life skills, emotional resilience and well-being.
  • Identify early signs of emotional or behavioural concerns and escalate appropriately in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide guidance, motivation, emotional support and role-modelling as a mentor.
  • Promote positive behavioural changes and growth through reflection and goal setting.
  • Maintain accurate and proper documentation on counselling and case management activities, with regular case reviews conducted with the HOD Student Management and relevant school staff.
  • Conduct proactive regular patrols within the school compound to identify and engage students who may need additional support.
  • Develop and facilitate engagement programmes that teach life skills such as emotional regulation, communication, problem solving and resilience for targeted students, with the agreement of relevant stakeholders.

Collaboration with School Personnel

  • Work closely with teachers, school counsellors, learning support and specialised personnel to understand students’ needs.
  • Participate in case discussions and contribute to intervention plans.
  • Communicate observations and concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Administrative Support

  • Perform data entry for offences and interventions, and compile discipline statistics on a weekly or monthly basis as required.
  • Monitor the student reporting channel, liaise with form teachers to support learning continuity during suspension periods, and review processes related to detention, late-coming and corrective work.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student information and abide by the ethical standards for counsellors.
  • Engage students using current digital communication platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Telegram.
  • Perform other administrative and operational duties pertaining to student management as directed by the school.

Requirements

  • Preferably have a certification or diploma in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or other related fields.
  • Preferably have an accreditation in restorative practices.
  • Preferably have at least 2 years of working experience in counselling, social work or working with youths.
  • Competent to manage the tasks and responsibilities assigned.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Able to engage students using current digital communication platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Telegram.
  • Successful candidate will be required to sign an undertaking to safeguard official information before the contract starts.

Contract Period

1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027

Option to extend: 1 January 2028 to 31 December 2028, subject to the school's requirements.

Working Arrangement

  • 2 sessions per week
  • Each session is on a weekday from 8.00am to 5.00pm , inclusive of 1 hour lunch break .
  • 16 working hours per week
  • Service is required until 22 October 2027 and 20 October 2028 respectively.
  • Service is not required on Saturdays, Sundays, school holidays and gazetted public holidays.
  • Service is also not required during the End of Year examination period, tentatively 27 September to 8 October 2027 and 25 September to 6 October 2028 respectively.
  • Working hours may be changed based on the school's needs; however, the number of working hours per week will remain at 16 hours per week .
