Part Time Discipline Support Officer (Potong Pasir, 1 Year)
Employment Type: Part-time, Contract (12 months) Monthly Salary: S$2700/Month Contract Period: 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027.
Working Hours:
- Mondays to Thursdays: 9:00am to 4:30pm, including a 1-hour lunch break
- Fridays: 8:00am to 12:30pm (no lunch break)
- No work on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted public holidays and school holidays
Key Responsibilities
Fact-finding and investigation
- Help the school's discipline team carry out thorough fact-finding and investigations into student misconduct and bullying cases, following school guidelines and processes
- Document case findings accurately and keep proper records for the school's reference
Student engagement and pastoral care
- Engage students involved in disciplinary cases, both offenders and victims, to give pastoral support and guidance
- Build positive relationships with students, especially those at risk, to spot early warning signs of behavioural issues and raise them with the relevant school personnel
- Support safety plans for affected students, including monitoring their well-being after disciplinary incidents
Supervision and school safety
- Be an additional adult presence at set school locations and at times when student-management support is needed, such as before school, recess, dismissal and between lessons
- Patrol set areas regularly to support positive student behaviour and school expectations
- Respond promptly to requests for help with student misconduct, conflict or other student-management concerns
- Help de-escalate student conflicts and safely refer students to the right school personnel
- Help monitor students serving school-based disciplinary consequences or interventions, where needed
- Raise environmental or situational factors that may be causing repeated disciplinary issues, and suggest preventive measures to the Discipline Team
Job Requirements
Qualifications and experience (minimum)
- GCE 'N' Level certificate
- At least 1 year of relevant experience working in a school or equivalent
Relevant background
- Experience working with youths or in an educational setting is an advantage
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and student engagement skills, able to build rapport with adolescents while keeping appropriate professional boundaries
- Effective communication and interviewing skills to engage students, parents and school personnel, and to support fact-finding
- Good analytical and investigative skills: able to gather information objectively, identify relevant facts and document findings accurately
- Conflict management and de-escalation skills: able to stay calm and use sound judgement in challenging situations
- Strong organisational and case management skills, including accurate documentation, timely follow-up and basic data management
- Able to work well with school personnel, parents and external agencies to support students
- Familiar with restorative practices, case management processes and student support frameworks
- High levels of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality, with the resilience and adaptability to manage sensitive student matters with discretion
