This position is located in the Office of Intelligence Operations, Firearms Operations Division, Crime Gun Intelligence Center of Excellence Branch located in Wichita, KS.

Major duties

The major duties of the Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist position include, but are not limited to, the following: Exercises full supervisory responsibilities and authority over non-supervisory intelligence personnel. Serves as an authority on strategic intelligence issues, providing expert advice to Bureau management and high-ranking officials regarding intelligence issues and statistical matters within program areas. Plans and oversees intelligence projects, predictive analysis projects and initiatives that concern programs and associates activities in other Federal, State, local and international law enforcement and regulatory agencies and organizations. Develops overall program and/or project objectives, goals, resource requirements, and milestones for all intelligence aspects of the branches programs.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the GS-14 grade level, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13 by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized experience must include all of: Providing support to criminal investigations using NIBIN leads and other Crime Gun Intelligence data; AND Collaborating with CGICs and other law enforcement agencies; AND Conducting presentations to managers and executives on intelligence topics and issues; AND Analyzing and evaluating programs or projects to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations. Quality Ranking Factor Familiarity with the NIBIN Enforcement Support System (NESS) is preferred. Requirements

The requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Must be U.S. Citizen or National Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file. You must be a current permanent Department of Justice, ATF employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate. May be required to serve a one-year probationary period. Pass drug screening and subject to random drug test. Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
