We are currently working with a well-established construction contractor specialising in high-quality commercial refurbishment and fit-out projects, who are looking to recruit an experienced Planner to join their growing team.

The company delivers a range of complex commercial projects, including CAT A and CAT B refurbishments, structural alterations, cut-and-carve schemes and high-specification interior fit-outs. With a strong pipeline of projects and an excellent reputation within the industry, this is an exciting opportunity for a Planner to play a key role in the successful delivery of projects.

As Planner, you will be responsible for developing, managing and monitoring detailed construction programmes from pre-construction through to project completion. Working closely with project delivery teams, commercial departments, design teams and subcontractors, you will ensure programmes are realistic, achievable and effectively communicated to all stakeholders.

You will provide planning expertise across multiple projects, identifying potential risks, monitoring progress and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure projects are delivered on time and in line with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, prepare and manage detailed construction programmes using industry-standard planning software.
  • Produce tender, pre-construction and contract programmes, ensuring key milestones and project deliverables are clearly identified.
  • Work closely with Project Directors, Project Managers and site teams to establish realistic construction sequences and methodologies.
  • Monitor project progress against agreed programmes, identifying delays, critical path issues and potential risks.
  • Prepare regular programme updates, progress reports and look-ahead schedules.
  • Identify programme constraints and develop mitigation and recovery strategies where required.
  • Coordinate with design teams, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure activities are properly sequenced.
  • Attend project and progress meetings, providing clear updates on programme performance.
  • Support project teams with procurement schedules, lead-in periods and resource planning.
  • Assist with extension of time assessments, delay analysis and programme-related contractual matters.
  • Ensure programmes reflect the practical requirements of commercial refurbishment and fit-out projects.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Planner within the construction industry.
  • Strong background in commercial refurbishment, fit-out or building projects.
  • Experience with CAT A and CAT B projects would be advantageous.
  • Proficient in planning software such as Asta Powerproject or Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and critical path analysis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with site teams, senior management, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple programmes and competing deadlines.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and growing contractor with a strong presence in the London commercial refurbishment and fit-out market. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on challenging, high-quality projects while playing an integral role in the planning and successful delivery of the company's expanding project portfolio.
