Your tasks

This is a broad role offering responsibility for management accounts, business partnering, forecasting and reporting. You will have the opportunity to understand the business behind the numbers, influence decisions and help senior colleagues identify risks and opportunities.

Alongside your core responsibilities, you will contribute to a major finance systems upgrade and have opportunities to develop your skills in business intelligence and reporting.

  • Take ownership of management accounting for a group business, delivering month end accounts and explaining financial performance.
  • Partner with operational leaders, providing financial insight to support day to day and investment decisions.
  • Produce monthly reporting packs covering profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and cost centre performance.
  • Turn detailed financial data into clear commentary on performance, risks and opportunities for senior stakeholders.
  • Support sales forecasting and budgeting, working with large datasets and meeting group reporting deadlines.
  • Develop your involvement in customer rebates, sales deductions and commercial agreements, understanding their impact on revenue and margins.
  • Act as a deputy to the Finance Manager, taking responsibility and providing cover across key team activities.
  • Contribute to systems improvements, a SAP upgrade and the development of BI reporting.

Requirements

You will bring strong management accounting experience and enjoy taking responsibility for both producing the numbers and explaining what they mean. Ideally, you will be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, although candidates approaching qualification and experienced accountants qualified by experience will also be considered.

You will need

  • Practical experience preparing management accounts, including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Strong Excel skills, with confidence manipulating data and using formulas to analyse financial information.
  • The ability to explain financial performance clearly to colleagues at different levels, including senior leadership.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to investigate issues, suggest solutions and make decisions.
  • Close attention to detail and a reliable approach to reporting deadlines.

Experience of sales forecasting, budgeting, margin analysis, price waterfalls, rebates or commercial contracts would be valuable. Manufacturing, distribution or logistics experience would also be useful.

SAP, Sage and Power BI experience would be an advantage, with training available to help you learn the business’s systems.
