Billing Specialist

Job Overview

Our client is looking for a Medical Billing and Bookkeeping Specialist who will be the dedicated owner of billing, authorizations and bookkeeping for a purpose-driven treatment organization. Your accuracy and follow-through will keep cash flow steady and let new clients start services without payment delays. You will work independently inside the client's own EHR system, with a walkthrough provided. You will take these tasks off the founder's plate, and your work will directly support the organization's growth and the care it delivers.

Schedule: Remote, Part Time | Flexible within 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST (Possibly starting around 10:00 AM).

Responsibilities

• Process accurate and timely billing for Medicaid and Medicare claims to support steady cash flow
• Handle authorizations for new clients so services can begin without payment delays
• Maintain day-to-day books and mid-level accounting records in QuickBooks
• Use Carlin for Maryland Medicaid authorization and billing tasks
• Keep billing and authorization records organized and up to date
• Take billing and bookkeeping off the founder's plate by serving as the dedicated person for these tasks

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Medicaid and Medicare billing in the U.S.
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks and general bookkeeping
• Familiarity with mental health and substance abuse billing and authorizations is preferred
• Experience with Carlin is preferred, though training can be provided
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
• Bonus: if you have worked with Maryland Medicaid billing and authorization processes
• Bonus: if you have supported a healthcare or behavioral health organization
• Nice to have: It helps if you have worked within an EHR system
