Role Description The Magazine Specialist is a full-time remote role responsible for supporting the development and growth of Broots Magazine. This role involves planning and coordinating magazine content, collaborating with writers, editors, and designers, and ensuring publications align with the company’s mission and brand guidelines. The Magazine Specialist will manage production timelines, assist with layout and content organization, and review materials for quality and consistency. Daily tasks include conducting research on relevant topics, trends, and stories, sourcing and organizing photographic content, and coordinating with internal teams to secure interviews and features. The role also includes contributing to sales and promotional initiatives for the magazine, analyzing readership feedback, and helping to improve overall magazine visibility and engagement.

Qualifications

Experience working with magazines and publications, including content planning and production processes. Strong research skills to identify relevant topics, trends, and stories that align with the magazine’s focus. Photography skills or the ability to work effectively with photographers and visual content, ensuring high-quality imagery in publications. Sales experience, particularly in promoting magazine subscriptions, advertising space, or related media products. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate across diverse teams. Familiarity with digital publishing tools, content management systems, and basic design or layout concepts is an advantage. Background or strong interest in media, fashion, lifestyle, or African heritage and diaspora topics is highly beneficial. Relevant academic qualification in Media Studies, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
