Personal Care Assistant (SEND) - Term Time Only Hayes, West London £24,572 Actual Salary 36 Hours per Week | 39 Weeks per Year (Term Time Only) Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 4:30pm (4:15pm Friday)

BS Social Care is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established education provider for a Personal Care Assistant to join a brand-new specialist SEND provision in Hayes. This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young adults with complex learning disabilities and additional needs, supporting them to achieve greater independence, wellbeing, and educational success within a highly inclusive learning environment.

The Role

As a Personal Care Assistant, you will work as part of a dedicated Learning Support Team, providing high-quality personal care and daily living support to students with a range of complex physical, medical, and learning needs. You will play a vital role in ensuring students can access learning safely and comfortably while promoting dignity, independence, and choice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing personal care support including hygiene, toileting, continence care, dressing, and grooming
  • Supporting with eating, drinking, feeding, and nutritional requirements
  • Administering and prompting medication in line with care plans
  • Using hoists and manual handling equipment safely and appropriately
  • Supporting students who use wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids
  • Assisting with physiotherapy programmes following training and guidance
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in wellbeing, behaviour, or physical condition
  • Contributing to and reviewing care plans and risk assessments
  • Keeping accurate records of care delivery and medication administration
  • Providing emotional support and building positive professional relationships with students
  • Working collaboratively with families, therapists, healthcare professionals, and education staff
  • Supporting safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable young people

About You

To be considered, you must have experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, SEND, or complex care needs.

Essential Requirements

Experience supporting people with learning difficulties and disabilities

Training and practical knowledge in:

  • Manual Handling
  • Personal Care
  • Dignity in Care
  • Feeding Support
  • Medication Administration
  • Infection Control
  • Disability First Aid
  • Dysphagia Awareness
  • Experience following care plans and risk assessments
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of safeguarding, equality, diversity, and SEND legislation
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Desirable

  • Specialist qualifications in Care or SEND
  • Experience producing individual care plans and risk assessments
  • Experience supporting people with profound and complex needs
  • Additional SEND-related training

Working hours are 8:45am - 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45am - 4:15pm Friday .
