Business and Operations Manager
Responsibilities:
Business Operations & Process Management: Oversee the firm’s day-to-day operations and cross-functional coordination across consulting, business development, finance, and administration; design, implement, maintain, and continuously improve workflows, SOPs, internal controls, and operational processes; monitor KPIs, identify inefficiencies, and lead process-improvement initiatives. Financial, Resource & Commercial Management: Support budgeting, financial planning, expense and cost management in collaboration with Finance; track project resourcing, billable utilisation, engagement budgets, cash flow, invoicing, and vendor payments; prepare periodic operational and financial reports for the Managing Director and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and resource utilisation. People Operations & Administration: Support recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, performance reviews, staff engagement, internal communications, employee records, contracts, HR documentation, and workplace practices in compliance with Nigerian labour requirements; manage office administration, supplies, procurement, and vendor relationships; support the development and implementation of HR policies and practices. Systems, Technology & Reporting: Own and manage the firm’s project management, CRM, finance, reporting, and collaboration systems; ensure accurate and up-to-date data, data integrity, confidentiality, and appropriate access controls; develop dashboards and reports that provide leadership visibility into performance, utilisation, and delivery; champion automation and digital tools to improve operational efficiency. Governance, Compliance & Risk: Ensure the firm’s operations comply with applicable regulatory, statutory, and contractual obligations; maintain corporate documentation, licences, insurance, and statutory filings; support the Managing Director in managing operational, financial, and reputational risks; and coordinate with external legal, tax, audit, and other professional advisors as required. Client & Engagement Support: Support project setup, resource allocation, and engagement tracking; coordinate logistics for client engagements, workshops, and firm events; assist in preparing client-facing materials, proposals, and reports; and ensure effective internal coordination to enable consultants to deliver high-quality client work.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree or MBA is an advantage. Minimum 4–5 years of progressive experience in business operations, office/practice management, or a similar operational leadership role. Experience within a consulting, professional services, or knowledge-based organisation is highly preferred. Demonstrated experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and cross-functional teams. Strong working knowledge of HR administration, office management, and Nigerian labour/regulatory requirements. Proficiency with project management, CRM, reporting, and collaboration tools such as Asana, Trello, Monday.com, HubSpot, Notion, Microsoft/Google Workspace. Comfort working with data and reporting tools to support decision-making; familiarity with automation or workflow tools is an advantage. Excellent organisational, multitasking, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging senior leadership. High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism in handling confidential business information.
