Education:

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.

Work site environment:

Tasks:

• Clean, chip and paint deck surfaces.
• Handle mooring lines, and splice and repair ropes, wire cables and cordage.
• Operate, maintain and repair deck equipment.
• Stand watch and steer ship or self-propelled vessel under the direction of an officer.

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses :

• Transport Canada Bridge Watchman Certificate.
• Marine Emergency Duties Certificate.
• Forklift Operator Certification.

Equipment and machinery experience:

• Industrial lift trucks and fork-lifts.
• Lifeboats.

Work conditions and physical capabilities:

• Bending, crouching, kneeling.
• Combination of sitting, standing, walking.
• Handling heavy loads.
• Physically demanding.
• Standing for extended periods.
• Hand-eye co-ordination.

Weight handling:

Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

Personal suitability:

Team player.

Experience:

1 year to less than 2 years.
