Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js / Java - OpenAPI) – Sweden
Your tasks
About the project We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a global home-furnishing retailer. You’ll work in the team that builds the planning tools used by 8,000+ coworkers in stores worldwide to design how customers experience their physical stores.
You’ll help build a user-friendly, production-ready planning entry point and own the integrations behind it. You’ll work closely with product, business and UX teams.
What you’ll do
- Design and build backend services and APIs with Node.js and/or Java
- Develop and consume REST / OpenAPI services and integrate several internal tools
- Build on the architecture that’s already in place and help keep it clean and scalable
- Own CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Work with 3D rendering services and reusable business-rule engines
Requirements
What we’re looking for
- Senior experience in Node.js or Java backend development
- Strong experience designing APIs with OpenAPI / REST
- Hands-on DevOps and CI/CD experience
- A solid understanding of how information flows between systems
- Familiarity with component-driven UI and design systems
- Experience with AI-assisted / spec-driven development
- Fluent English
Nice to have
- AI / MCP integrations
- 3D visualisation (Three.js, React Three Fiber, Autodesk APS)
- Full-stack skills, headless CMS and dynamic page rendering
- Event-driven architecture and observability tools
- Background in retail or commercial planning
