The Position Become part of an innovative research team that drives the validation of drug targets using next-generation vector technologies. As a Scientist, you will work on various aspects of AAV production, vector optimization, characterization, and functional application. You will develop customized gene modulation strategies to enable target validation and the establishment of disease models in the research phase. This position offers you the opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary expert teams and contribute to transformative approaches in early drug discovery within a dynamic pharmaceutical research environment. Tasks and Responsibilities

• In your new role, you will produce, purify, and analyze AAV preparations. Additionally, the optimization and implementation of new process improvements are part of your area of responsibility.
• You will develop, optimize, and characterize AAV vectors (capsid, expression cassette) for targeted tissue targeting and modulation of target expression in mice.
• In this context, you will apply DNA, RNA, and protein-based analytical methods and interpret their results, such as qPCR, in-situ hybridization, sequencing, and immunohistochemistry.
• As a member of multidisciplinary drug discovery teams, you will develop and implement targeted strategies for target modulation (overexpression, knockdown, CRISPR-KO, CRISPRa) to investigate and preclinically validate novel therapeutic concepts.
• Furthermore, you will monitor current technological developments and scientific progress, evaluate innovative approaches, and implement new solutions to continuously advance our scientific competencies.

Requirements

• PhD in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, or a comparable field.
• Sound scientific expertise as well as several years of practical experience in the development, production, and in-vivo application of AAV vectors are mandatory. Additional experience with other vector systems (e.g., lentiviruses or LNPs) is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of disease mechanisms as well as molecular, cellular, and immunobiological contexts to support target exploration and validation across various indication areas.
• Comprehensive knowledge of molecular and cellular biology methods; experience in handling laboratory animals and/or tissue samples is an advantage.
• Experience in the design of expression constructs for in-vivo gene modulation, including CRISPR/Cas9.
• Demonstrable scientific publications in renowned specialist journals.
• Business fluent English skills in speaking and writing (German skills are an advantage), strong communication skills, and the ability to work successfully in multidisciplinary and international teams.
