Controller – US Operations, Mining/Mineral Processing

Blue Moon Metals is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller for its US operations. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in mining or mill operations, and a proven track record in financial reporting, ERP systems, and compliance with NASDAQ standards. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller will oversee all financial activities, ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, and support strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, enjoys being close to operations and supporting site leadership, has a deep understanding of IFRS, and the ability to drive operational efficiency in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full cycle of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll for US entities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly site reporting packages for the group consolidation in accordance with IFRS and NASDAQ requirements
Lead finance support for US assets acquisitions, with initial focus on the Springer Mine and Processing Facility
Work with the Corporate Finance team to evaluate and implement new accounting policies as the US assets transition through the mine life cycle (exploration, development, construction, operations)
Implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records
Coordinate and lead the US component annual audit process in collaboration with the Corporate Finance team and external auditors to ensure timely completion of all audit requirements
Support the Corporate FP&A Manager in budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance analysis
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and corporation tax regulations; prepare and file applicable tax returns
Oversee cash management, banking relationships, and treasury functions
Provide financial guidance and support to operational teams to enhance profitability and cost control
Support the implementation and optimization of ERP systems
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in financial operations
Help to build and mentor the finance team, fostering professional development and a collaborative work environment
Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses as requested
Qualifications
Active CPA in good standing and eligible to work in the United States
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
Minimum of 7 years’ progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
Strong knowledge of IFRS (US GAAP is an asset), tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced MS Excel skills
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Effective communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Experience in the metals, manufacturing, or industrial sectors is an asset
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with willingness to travel to site as required
