Senior Associate/Vice President - Portfolio Management
About the company
We are a Singapore-based, MAS-licensed fund management company focused on private credit and venture debt opportunities across Southeast Asia and emerging Asian markets. We provide structured growth capital to established, venture-backed and high-growth businesses, with a focus on senior-secured lending, disciplined credit underwriting, capital preservation and attractive risk-adjusted returns.
Your tasks
We are seeking a commercially driven investment professional to take ownership of both deal origination and portfolio management. The role combines sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities with end-to-end responsibility for managing existing credit investments, monitoring portfolio performance and delivering strong risk-adjusted returns.
1. Deal Origination and Business Development
- Proactively source and originate private credit and venture debt opportunities across Southeast Asia and emerging Asian markets.
- Develop and maintain relationships with founders, CFOs, venture capital and private equity funds, banks, financial institutions, intermediaries and other referral partners.
- Build a robust pipeline of investment opportunities aligned with the fund's investment mandate, target returns and risk parameters.
- Evaluate prospective borrowers, assess funding requirements and identify suitable financing structures.
- Lead initial screening, financial analysis, preliminary credit assessment and preparation of investment proposals.
- Manage the deal pipeline from origination and initial engagement through due diligence, investment committee approval and transaction closure.
- Represent the firm in relevant industry events and investor, founder and intermediary networks to strengthen origination channels.
2. Credit Underwriting and Transaction Execution
- Conduct detailed financial and business due diligence, including analysis of financial statements, cash flows, business models, capital structures and repayment capacity.
- Develop financial models, repayment schedules, sensitivity analyses and downside scenarios to evaluate investment opportunities.
- Structure credit transactions, including loan tenor, pricing, repayment terms, financial covenants, collateral and other credit enhancements.
- Coordinate legal, financial and commercial due diligence and work with external advisers on transaction documentation.
- Prepare investment memoranda and present recommendations to the investment committee.
- Ensure that transactions meet the fund's investment criteria, risk appetite and return objectives.
3. Portfolio Management and Investment Ownership
- Take end-to-end ownership of an assigned portfolio of credit investments from disbursement through repayment, refinancing or exit.
- Monitor borrower performance, cash flows, liquidity, leverage, repayment capacity and compliance with agreed financial and contractual covenants.
- Track interest collections, principal repayments, maturity schedules, security coverage and portfolio-level exposures.
- Maintain regular engagement with portfolio company management to understand business performance, financing needs and emerging risks.
- Conduct periodic credit reviews and maintain updated financial models, internal risk assessments and portfolio monitoring reports.
- Identify opportunities for follow-on financing, refinancing, amendments and other value-enhancing activities where consistent with the fund's mandate.
- Be accountable for timely identification and escalation of credit risks, with clear recommendations to protect capital and preserve investment returns.
4. Portfolio Performance and Risk Management
- Track portfolio yields, realized returns, repayment performance, concentration and vintage-level performance.
- Identify early-warning indicators and proactively engage borrowers to address emerging financial or operational concerns.
- Recommend and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures in coordination with the investment team.
- Manage occasional borrower underperformance, covenant breaches or repayment delays, including remedial actions and restructuring where necessary.
- Contribute to portfolio construction, capital allocation and investment strategy discussions.
5. Fund Reporting and Governance
- Prepare investment memoranda, periodic portfolio reviews, risk assessments and performance reports for senior management and the investment committee.
- Support periodic investor reporting covering portfolio performance, repayments, deployment and material developments.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of investment decisions, due diligence, borrower interactions, covenant monitoring and collections.
- Work within the firm's investment policies, risk management framework and applicable MAS regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with fund operations, compliance, administrators, auditors and other service providers as required.
Requirements
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in private credit, venture debt, structured finance, corporate lending, leveraged finance or credit investing.
- Demonstrated experience in both deal origination and credit portfolio management, with evidence of personally sourcing opportunities and managing executed investments.
- Proven ability to build and maintain a network of borrowers, founders, sponsors, intermediaries or other relevant origination partners.
- Strong credit underwriting, financial modelling, cash-flow analysis and transaction structuring capabilities.
- Practical understanding of loan documentation, security packages, financial covenants, repayment structures and credit risk assessment.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related discipline.
- A relevant professional qualification is mandatory: CFA, FRM, CA, CPA, ACCA or an equivalent recognised professional qualification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare investment committee papers and engage with senior borrower management.
- Experience in Southeast Asian markets and with venture-backed, high-growth or technology-enabled businesses is preferred.
- Exposure to Singapore-regulated fund management and institutional investor reporting is an advantage.
Desired Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a commercially minded investment professional who combines the ability to source attractive lending opportunities, execute disciplined credit investments and take accountability for portfolio outcomes.
The candidate should demonstrate
- Strong origination capabilities and an established or demonstrably buildable network of relevant market relationships.

- The ability to assess growth businesses with evolving financial profiles while maintaining rigorous underwriting standards.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial approach suited to a lean and growing investment management platform.
