Principal Civil Engineer

At B&W Engineering, we deliver mission-critical infrastructure that underpins the digital economy. As a Principal Civil Engineer , you will play a pivotal role in the site development of data centre projects , with a strong focus on roads, drainage, and utilities infrastructure .

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES (Tasks)

Technical Leadership & Design (Site Infrastructure)

• Lead the design of civil and site works including roads, stormwater drainage, and underground utilities
• Prepare and review detailed engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications
• Design earthworks, grading, pavements, and utility networks (water, sewer, power corridors)
• Ensure designs align with project requirements, local authority standards, and best practices

Project Delivery

• Manage civil engineering packages from concept through detailed design to construction support
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, mechanical, structural, BIM) to ensure integrated site design
• Support authority submissions (e.g., PUB, LTA, BCA) and approvals processes
• Provide technical input during construction, site inspections, and issue resolution

Stakeholder Engagement

• Liaise with clients, contractors, and government authorities on design and delivery matters
• Participate in technical meetings and provide expert guidance on civil engineering solutions
• Support project managers in delivering outcomes aligned with client expectations

Mentorship & Team Development

• Mentor junior engineers and support capability building within the civil team
• Promote technical excellence and knowledge sharing
• Contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team culture

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, constructability, and sustainability
• Support the adoption of digital engineering and BIM in civil design workflows
• Stay updated with evolving standards, design tools, and infrastructure trends

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENT

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Registered or eligible for registration with the Professional Engineers Board (PEB)
• Familiarity with Singapore codes and authority requirements (e.g., PUB, LTA, BCA)
• Membership with Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES) or equivalent preferred
• Familiar with Civil 3D

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience delivering civil infrastructure design for large-scale developments, including industrial, mission critical, or data centre projects.
• Strong technical expertise in site development design, including roads and access infrastructure, site grading and earthworks, surface water drainage and stormwater management, utility coordination and infrastructure planning, water, wastewater, and external services design
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design coordination with structural, mechanical, electrical, and specialist engineering teams.
• Thorough understanding of Singapore authority submission processes and stakeholder engagement requirements.
• Ability to manage client relationships, participate in technical discussions, and represent the civil discipline during project delivery.
• Experience overseeing project delivery, resource planning, programme management, and design quality assurance.
• Knowledge of hydraulic modelling and flood mitigation strategies would be advantageous.
• Previous experience in data centre, mission critical, industrial, or hyperscale projects is highly desirable.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical excellence, programme requirements, and project budgets.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to quality and delivery excellence.
