Head of Engineering

BettingJobs is partnering with an ambitious sports betting operator to appoint a Head of Engineering, based in Lagos. This is a senior leadership role at the centre of the business’s technology, shaping the platform and the team behind it in one of Africa’s fastest-moving betting markets.

You’ll lead engineering on the ground, working closely with the wider leadership team to set technical direction, build a high-performing team and deliver a reliable, scalable product. It suits a hands-on engineering leader who wants long-term ownership and real influence, and who enjoys being embedded with the team day to day. Responsibilities:

• Own engineering strategy, architecture and delivery across the betting platform
• Lead, hire and develop a strong engineering team, building a culture of quality and ownership
• Ensure platform stability, performance and security, particularly during peak sporting events
• Partner with product and commercial leads to prioritise the roadmap
• Introduce and improve engineering processes, tooling and best practice

Requirements:

• Proven experience leading engineering teams, ideally in iGaming, sports betting or high-transaction environments
• Strong technical background with hands-on experience of scalable, distributed systems
• A track record of building and growing teams
• Clear communicator, comfortable working with senior stakeholders
• Based in, or willing to relocate to, Lagos
