*Overview*

Join our Recreation team as a Recreation Coordinator, where your enthusiasm and dedication will create engaging, meaningful activities under the Butterfly Model of Care that enhances the quality of life for seniors and individuals.

Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible to plan, coordinator and implement recreation programs to meet the intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs of the residents/tenants.

*Job Types: Regular Full-Time*

*Hours: 75.00 hours bi-weekly*

Salary: Starting at $23.60 per hour per Collective Agreement

*Duties*

  • Develop, organize, and lead a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents? interests and abilities
  • Collaborate with care staff to incorporate therapeutic activities that support seniors? physical, emotional, and cognitive health
  • Facilitate group outings, special events, and community engagement initiatives that promote social interaction
  • Assess individual residents? needs and preferences to personalize activity plans effectively
  • Maintain accurate records of participation, activity feedback, and resident progress
  • Encourage participation by creating an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere that fosters community spirit
  • Support residents with disabilities or dementia by adapting activities to ensure safety and enjoyment

*Skills*

  • Design, plan and evaluate resident/tenant recreational programs; including intergenerational and entertainment programs
  • Communicate with all departments and works in conjunction with them to coordinate programs (i.e. booking of rooms, arranging transportation needs, ordering refreshments, etc.)
  • Document resident progress in activities as required by long-term care legislation and department guidelines
  • Supervise programs and maintain records of background information and previous experience for future plans
  • Respond to and act upon telephone calls
  • Ensure that a wide variety of needs and preference of the residents/tenants is reflected in the programmes offered
  • Involve the residents/tenants in the initiation of new programmes and projects, and encourage ongoing interaction and open exchange of ideas
  • Recommend policy changes when necessary; including the writing of policies and procedures
  • Participate in the quality assurance program
  • Attend staff meetings, department meetings and participates in in-house and outside self-development programs
