Customer Operations Officer - Maritime & Port Equipment

A day in the life of a Customer Operations Officer The Customer Operations team is the link between a signed contract and an entrepreneur who can keep sailing, anywhere in the world. Your goal: ensure that every international lease or financing for maritime equipment is paid out quickly, carefully, and smoothly, within all the rules that cross-border financing entails. And that customers have a point of contact throughout the entire term who knows the maritime world and who thinks along, moves with them, and fixes things.

Morning. You start by glancing at your files. Which maritime deal was just signed? Which file is waiting for the final documents? A shipowner in another time zone has already called, so you pick that up first. You check the customer and equipment data of the vessel, verify that all documents are complete, and prepare the security documents that hold up internationally. Is something missing or is a file at risk of getting stuck? Then you intervene immediately. You keep the pace up.

Afternoon. Now it's about switching gears. You are in contact with international customers from the shipping industry, notaries, lawyers, and suppliers of maritime equipment, across national borders and time zones, in fluent English and without language or cultural differences getting in the way. You take foreign laws and regulations, currencies, cross-border transactions, and the specific rules surrounding maritime equipment into account. Compliance and country risk are not an afterthought, but a fixed part of your work. Internally, you work closely with Sales, Credit Analysts, Legal, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and your fellow Customer Operations Officers. You jump in where necessary and take responsibility.

End of the day. You ensure that the financing can be paid out and that our Fintech system is strictly in order. You help an existing customer with a question about an ongoing or expiring ship contract, quickly, clearly, and without hassle. That customer feels seen because you know the sector and think along. And do you see a process that could be smarter? Then you note it down, because Beequip is continuously growing across borders and on the water, and you contribute your ideas. With both feet on the ground. No two days are the same, and that is exactly how you like it.

You have knowledge in the field of maritime sector financing, such as shipping, ships, and sailing equipment. This is a must for this role.

You handle (international) financing proposals for sailing equipment quickly and carefully, process customer and equipment data, and prepare security documents that hold up cross-border.

You switch easily with international customers, lawyers, notaries, and suppliers, quickly and clearly, across national borders and time zones.

You speak and write fluent English and feel at home in different cultures.

You have knowledge of or affinity with compliance and country risk in cross-border transactions and international financing.

You maintain an overview, set priorities, and keep multiple balls in the air at once.

You are meticulous, even in complex international maritime files where details matter.

You are entrepreneurial and customer-oriented: you enjoy helping existing customers and actively think along about better (administrative) processes.

You take initiative and take responsibility, from the start of a deal to the end of the lease or mortgage term.

You feel at home in larger, more complex deals and enjoy working with internal teams such as Sales, Credit Analysts, Legal, Finance, Risk, and Compliance.
