Principal Machine Learning Scientist (all genders)

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• You lead the development, evaluation, and application of Machine Learning algorithms and workflows for the characterization and de novo design of biomolecules to accelerate drug discovery
• You identify potentials to accelerate ongoing drug discovery projects through the use of internal and external AI expertise
• You communicate, inform, and work with a wide spectrum of stakeholders (chemists, biologists, computer and data scientists, R&D leaders, consortium partners, as well as the broader scientific community) regarding the state of the art and progress of key internal initiatives
• You actively follow the latest advances in the computational modeling of biomolecular structures as well as their physics, interactions, and functions

WHAT DISTINGUISHES YOU

• You have a PhD in computational chemistry/biology, chemistry/bioinformatics, chemistry/biology/molecular engineering, or a related field at the intersection of life sciences and computer science
• You bring several years of relevant professional experience after your PhD, ideally gained in industry
• You have very good knowledge of state-of-the-art Machine Learning methods for modeling biomolecules, e.g., sequence-to-function models, protein language models, co-folding, inverse folding, or controllable generative methods
• You impress with experience in ML-based workflows for characterizing biomolecular interactions, evaluating drugability, candidate screening, as well as the design and optimization of therapeutics and delivery systems
• You have experience in processing, integrating, and analyzing large datasets in drug discovery, including sequence, omics, biochemical, biophysical, and structural biological data
• You are confident in using modern bioinformatic tools (e.g., MMseqs, Foldseek)
• You have very good Python skills, including the scientific stack (e.g., PyTorch, Pandas, scikit-learn) as well as experience in collaborative software development following best practices
• You possess a proven commitment to scientific rigor, demonstrable scientific achievements, as well as strong analytical skills and high self-motivation
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English round off your profile
