SAP Basis Administrator

Key Responsibilities
SAP Basis Administration
Perform day-to-day administration and monitoring of SAP systems including:
- SAP ECC
- SAP BW
- SAP Enterprise Portal (EP)
- SAP GRC
- SAP Solution Manager
- Monitor SAP system availability, work processes, system logs, dumps, locks, and overall system health.
- Perform SAP start/stop activities and troubleshoot system availability issues.
- Monitor background jobs and investigate failed or long-running jobs.
- Manage SAP users, roles, authorizations, and basic security-related activities in coordination with the appropriate teams.
- Perform routine SAP Basis housekeeping and system health checks.
- Monitor SAP system performance and escalate issues where required.
- Assist with SAP kernel upgrades, Support Package updates, patches, and related maintenance activities.
- Support SAP Notes implementation and technical remediation activities under senior administrator guidance.
- Assist with SAP system refreshes, client administration, and system copies.
- Support SAP transport management across development, test, and production environments.
- Monitor and troubleshoot RFC connections, IDocs, interfaces, and other basic SAP connectivity issues.
Database Administration & Support
Provide basic administration and monitoring support for:
- SAP HANA
- Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL)
- SAP ASE
- Monitor database availability, space utilization, backups, alerts, and basic performance indicators.
- Assist with database backup and recovery activities.
- Perform database housekeeping and capacity monitoring.
- Work with database administrators and application teams to troubleshoot database-related SAP issues.
- Monitor SAP HANA services and assist with basic HANA administration tasks.
- Assist with database patching and maintenance activities.
Operating System Administration (Mandatory)
Provide basic operating system support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) and Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Monitor CPU, memory, disk space, processes, filesystems, and system availability.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of OS-related issues affecting SAP systems.
- Manage SAP-related services and processes.
- Perform filesystem housekeeping and log management.
- Coordinate with infrastructure teams for OS patching, server maintenance, and capacity issues.
SAP Solution Manager
- Monitor SAP systems through SAP Solution Manager.
- Assist with system monitoring, technical monitoring, and alert management.
- Support basic SAP Solution Manager administration and housekeeping.
- Assist with incident investigation and system health reporting.
Incident, Change & Operational Support
- Respond to SAP Basis incidents and service requests within agreed SLA requirements.
- Perform initial investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of SAP technical issues.
- Escalate complex issues to senior Basis administrators, infrastructure, database, or SAP application teams.
- Participate in planned maintenance, patching, upgrades, and system changes.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Participate in on-call or after-hours support where required.
- Follow ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes.
Required Skills & Experience
- Approximately 2 years of experience in SAP Basis administration/support . (Optional, training will be provided)
- Hands-on exposure to SAP Basis administration in an enterprise environment. (Optional, training will be provided)
- Experience supporting one or more of the following SAP systems: (Optional, training will be provided)
- SAP ECC
- SAP BW
- SAP Enterprise Portal
- SAP GRC
- SAP Solution Manager
- Basic knowledge of SAP system architecture and SAP NetWeaver administration. (Optional, training will be provided)
- Working knowledge of SAP transport management, background jobs, RFCs, system monitoring, and troubleshooting. (Optional, training will be provided)
- Basic experience with SAP HANA administration and monitoring. (Optional, training will be provided)
- Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server and/or SAP ASE databases. (Optional, training will be provided)
- Basic knowledge of SUSE Linux administration. (Mandatory)
- Basic knowledge of Windows Server administration. (Mandatory)
- Familiarity with SAP users, roles, authorizations, and security concepts. (Optional, training will be provided)
- Good troubleshooting and analytical skills. (Mandatory)
- Ability to work effectively with application, database, infrastructure, and security teams.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant SAP Basis certification or training is an advantage.
