Assistant Relationship Manager – Corporate Banking

Job Summary

Support Relationship Managers in managing and developing corporate client relationships, including credit assessment, transaction execution, client servicing and ongoing account monitoring. Work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver timely client service and ensure compliance with the Bank’s policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Client Coverage and Business Development

  • Assist Relationship Managers in managing corporate client portfolios, understanding client needs and identifying business opportunities.
  • Support the assessment of new transactions and preparation of credit proposals, deal presentations and other business submissions.
  • Participate in client meetings, customer visits and roadshows, and follow up on agreed action items.

Credit Assessment and Portfolio Monitoring

  • Conduct financial and credit analysis, identify key risks and assist in structuring facilities with appropriate risk mitigants.
  • Prepare credit applications, annual and interim reviews, including financial spreading, industry analysis and assessment of repayment capacity.
  • Monitor account conduct, financial performance, facility utilization and compliance with approved conditions and covenants.
  • Identify and escalate emerging credit concerns, excesses and deviations, and assist in obtaining necessary approvals or waivers and following up on remedial actions.
  • Maintain complete and updated credit files and ensure timely completion of credit reviews and post-lending monitoring.

Transaction Execution and Client Servicing

  • Assist in coordinating facility documentation, security arrangements and fulfilment of conditions precedent, working with internal teams, legal counsel and other lenders where required.
  • Coordinate loan drawdowns, rollovers and other transaction requests, ensuring the necessary documentation and approvals are in place.
  • Handle day-to-day client enquiries, including account matters, payments, balances and rate quotations, in coordination with relevant teams.
  • Follow up on service issues and escalate matters appropriately to the Relationship Manager or relevant internal stakeholders.

Client Onboarding and Compliance

  • Coordinate with clients, onboarding teams and Compliance to ensure timely completion of account opening, KYC, customer due diligence and periodic or trigger-event reviews.
  • Assist in AML, sanctions and transaction-monitoring checks, including obtaining supporting information and following up on alerts with relevant teams.
  • Ensure required checklists, client records and supporting documents are complete and maintained in accordance with the Bank’s policies and regulatory requirements.

Team Support

  • Work closely with Relationship Managers, Operations, Risk and Compliance to support effective client coverage and transaction execution.
  • Provide backup support to team members and undertake other duties assigned by the Head of Department or Relationship Managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Preferably 1–3 years of relevant experience in corporate banking, commercial banking or related financial services. Fresh graduates with a strong interest in corporate banking may also be considered.
  • Basic understanding of financial statements, credit analysis and corporate banking products. Knowledge of trade finance, loan documentation and credit administration is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with KYC, AML and relevant regulatory requirements is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to prepare clear written submissions.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and coordination skills.
  • Well organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Mandarin to support Chinese corporate clients and liaise with Chinese-speaking internal and external stakeholders on cross-border business.
  • A responsible and proactive team player who can work independently and demonstrates a willingness to learn.
