Design Office Manager (M/F)
Reporting to the Operations Director, the Design Office Manager leads all engineering and design activities. He/she guarantees the completion of studies in compliance with quality, cost, and deadline requirements, while contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering methods, tools, and processes.
A true technical expert and manager, he/she supervises the Design Office teams and actively participates in industrialization, innovation, and product evolution projects.
Your missions:
Steering of studies and technical projects:
- Provide Design Office expertise during the pre-sales phase, supporting the Studies and Realization department in analyzing client specifications.
- Analyze internal requests and plan studies between the different units (Electricity / Automatisme, Equipment, Boilermaking).
- Guarantee the progress of studies and support teams during critical project phases.
- Validate technical plans and ensure their consistency throughout the product life cycle.
- Supervise document management and the updating of plans and versions.
- Ensure compliance with quality, cost, and deadline requirements.
You also contribute to innovation, industrialization, and product range evolution projects in connection with R&D teams.
Improvement of engineering methods and tools:
- Lead the continuous improvement of design and standardization methods.
- Develop and ensure the reliability of the Design Office's digital tools (CAO, PDM/PLM, GED, ERP).
- Structure the management and capitalization of technical data.
- Deploy the digitalization of engineering processes.
- Promote the standardization and reuse of technical solutions.
Steering Design Office performance:
- Define and monitor performance indicators (KPI).
- Optimize interfaces between the Design Office, methods, production, purchasing, construction sites, and services.
- Reduce study cycles and improve process efficiency.
- Structure engineering practices: standardization, technical libraries, solution capitalization.
- Deploy Lean Engineering and continuous improvement approaches.
Management of Design Office teams:
You supervise the Unit Managers and Design Office Technicians.
In this capacity, you:
- Organize the workload and plan activities.
- Set objectives and monitor team performance.
- Support skill development and employee autonomy.
- Guarantee communication and coordination between teams and other departments.
- Participate in HR processes: recruitment, annual interviews, skill development.
The sought profile
Education
- Engineer or higher technical education (Bac+5).
Experience
- You have significant experience in a Design Office within an industrial environment, including management of technical teams.
- Experience in managing complex industrial projects is a major asset.
Technical skills
- Mastery of Design Office methods and tools.
- Knowledge of technical industrial environments (equipment, automatisme, mechanics, or energy).
- Mastery of CAO tools and technical data management systems (PDM/PLM).
- Good mastery of industrial project management.
- Professional English.
