Key Responsibilities
- Business Development
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the retail market.
- Research market trends, customer needs, competitors, and emerging retail opportunities.
- Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve revenue and growth objectives.
- Identify potential retail outlets, distributors, dealers, corporate customers, and strategic partners.
- Develop new sales channels, including physical retail, wholesale, distribution, and online/e-commerce channels.
- Sales & Revenue Growth
- Develop and manage a sales pipeline to achieve agreed sales targets.
- Prepare sales proposals, quotations, commercial presentations, and business plans.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, contracts, and agreements with customers and business partners.
- Monitor sales performance and take appropriate actions to achieve business targets.
- Explore opportunities to increase sales through new products, promotions, cross-selling, and expansion into new markets.
- Customer & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, retailers, distributors, and business partners.
- Understand customer requirements and provide appropriate products and business solutions.
- Conduct regular customer meetings and follow up on business opportunities.
- Handle customer feedback and coordinate with internal teams to resolve commercial issues.
- Develop long-term relationships that support repeat business and customer retention.
- Retail Market Development
- Identify potential retail locations and opportunities for market expansion.
- Support the opening and development of new retail accounts or outlets.
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing, promotions, product offerings, and market positioning.
- Recommend new products and services based on market demand and customer feedback.
- Work closely with the retail and operations teams to improve sales performance.
- Partnerships & Strategic Alliances
- Identify and establish relationships with potential distributors, suppliers, retailers, franchise partners, and other strategic business partners.
- Develop partnership proposals and negotiate mutually beneficial commercial arrangements.
- Manage existing strategic partnerships and identify opportunities for further business growth.
- Business Planning & Reporting
- Prepare regular sales forecasts, business development reports, and management updates.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, customer activities, and sales pipelines.
- Analyse sales and market data to identify growth opportunities.
- Prepare annual and quarterly business development plans.
- Track performance against agreed KPIs and business objectives.
- Internal Coordination
- Work closely with sales, marketing, operations, finance, procurement, and management teams.
- Coordinate product launches, promotions, marketing campaigns, and customer initiatives.
- Provide market feedback to management to support product and business strategy.
- Ensure that customer commitments are properly communicated and followed through internally.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, Sales, or a related field .
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in business development, sales, account management, or retail.
- Experience in the retail, distribution, FMCG, consumer products, or related industries will be an advantage.
- Proven ability to develop new customers and generate business opportunities.
- Strong negotiation, communication, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
- Commercially driven with a strong understanding of sales and profitability.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with internal teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/business development tools.
- Willingness to travel for customer meetings, retail visits, trade shows, and business development activities when required.
