SHIPYARD SUPERVISOR

Job Summary

The Shipyard Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily shipyard activities, ensuring that work is carried out safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements, schedules, quality standards, and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily shipyard activities and work crews at the assigned project/ worksite.
• Plan and allocate manpower, tools, equipment, and materials to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor work progress and ensure activities are completed according to the project schedule and agreed requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, shipyard representatives and other stakeholders.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with approved drawings, work procedures, specifications and quality requirements.
• Conduct daily toolbox meetings and ensure workers understand the work scope and safety requirements.
• Ensure compliance with shipyard safety rules, Company HSE procedures, permit-to-work requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, worksite issues, delays, and manpower or material shortages to the relevant management.
• Monitor the performance and productivity of workers and subcontractors.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment and materials at the worksite.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning and rectification works where required.
• Maintain proper records of manpower, work progress, materials, equipment and daily site activities.
• Assist in resolving technical and operational issues encountered during project execution.
• Ensure housekeeping and proper workplace organisation within the assigned work area.
• Support project handover and ensure outstanding works and defects are properly followed up and closed.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Management

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant shipyard or marine industry experience , preferably with supervisory experience.
• Experience in ship repair, shipbuilding, marine engineering, offshore, or dry-docking projects will be an advantage.
• Good knowledge of shipyard operations, work processes, and safety requirements.
• Able to supervise and coordinate workers and subcontractors effectively.
• Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced shipyard environment.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, or shifts when required by project requirements.
• Familiarity with Singapore shipyard safety requirements and permit-to-work systems is an advantage.
