SALARY: £26,500 to £30,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Benefits LOCATION: Leigh, Greater Manchester, North West England JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent WORKING HOURS: Minimum 40 hours per week, typically 08:00 to 16:30; additional hours, nights, weekends, overnight stays and nationwide travel are required as work demands, including at short notice
JOB OVERVIEW
An excellent opportunity to build practical technical skills across UK structures and sites, combining hands-on and office-based learning alongside experienced colleagues. The Trainee Site Technician will support senior staff with structural investigation, testing and surveying, contributing accurate site data and client-focused work. Across varied structures, the Trainee Site Technician will use test and survey equipment and support data analysis and reporting. With internal and external training, the Trainee Site Technician will build knowledge while working safely in areas that can include high-level, confined-space, highway, rail and waterside environments.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Trainee Site Technician include:
- Team Support: Work collaboratively and assist experienced colleagues on site and with related office-based tasks
- Structural Investigation and Testing: Assist with structural investigation, testing and surveying under instruction from experienced staff
- Site Data and Notes: Log site data and take clear, accurate notes to a high standard
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Assist with analysing data and generating reports
- Equipment and Tools: Use test and survey equipment including Ferroscan, covermeter, PUNDIT, Schmidt Hammer and GPR, plus power tools including diamond core drills and breaker drills
- Quality of Work: Produce high-quality work that supports professional standards and client needs
- Health and Safety Compliance: Follow company health, safety, policy and procedure requirements
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
- Proficiency in English, Maths and IT
- IT proficiency including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Great attention to detail
- A flexible approach to timekeeping when completing jobs
- A full and valid UK driving licence
- A committed work ethic with a willingness to learn and help
- A punctual, committed, reliable and focused approach
- Willingness to work away from home and/or drive nationwide, including additional hours, evenings, weekends and nights, sometimes at short notice
DESIRABLE
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Site experience using site tools or equipment
- An understanding of building fabrics including concrete, steel and masonry
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 (or equivalent) in a Construction or Engineering subject
- CSCS
- IPAF
- PASMA
- Confined Spaces training
