A varied UK-wide opportunity for a hands-on technician with experience in a similar site-based role, practical tool and equipment skills and knowledge of concrete, steel and masonry. Full training is provided, with travel, overnight stays and varied working times required.

SALARY: £29,000 to £32,500 per annum (depending on experience) + Benefits LOCATION: Leigh, Greater Manchester with nationwide travel JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent WORKING HOURS: Minimum 40 hours per week, typically 08:00 to 16:30; additional hours, evenings, weekends and nights may be required, sometimes at short notice, with nationwide travel and overnight stays
JOB OVERVIEW
This is an exciting opportunity to work on varied structures across the UK through practical site work and technical learning. The Site Technician / Engineering Technician will undertake structural investigation, testing and surveying alongside experienced colleagues.
The Site Technician / Engineering Technician will use specialist test and survey equipment across site and office-based tasks, supported by internal and external training.
Projects may involve confined spaces, work at height, water, highways and rail environments. The Site Technician / Engineering Technician will record site data, support analysis and reporting, and help senior colleagues develop junior team members.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Site Technician / Engineering Technician include:
- Structural Investigation and Testing: Undertake structural investigations, testing and surveying under instruction from experienced staff
- Site Data and Records: Log site data and take clear, accurate notes to a high standard
- Analysis and Reporting: Assist with analysing data and generating technical reports
- Specialist Equipment and Tools: Use Ferroscan, covermeters, PUNDIT, Schmidt Hammers, GPR, diamond core drills, breaker drills and other relevant equipment safely
- Quality Standards: Produce high-quality work in line with relevant standards, in-house procedures and client requirements
- Health, Safety and Procedures: Follow company health and safety policies, procedures and site requirements
- Team Support and Development: Work effectively as part of a team, support senior staff and help develop junior colleagues
- Nationwide Site Work: Travel to sites across the UK and work in varied environments, including confined spaces, at height, around water, on highways and railways
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Site experience with competence using site tools and equipment
- Proficiency in English and Maths, with strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Understanding of building fabrics, including concrete, steel and masonry
- Strong attention to detail
- Flexible approach to working times when completing jobs
- Full and valid UK Driving Licence
- Strong work ethic, willingness to learn and readiness to support colleagues
- Reliable, punctual and focused approach
- Willingness to travel nationwide, stay away from home and work additional hours, evenings, weekends or nights when required, including at short notice

- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in a Construction or Engineering subject (or equivalent)
