Avanti Recruitment is working with a specialist electronics manufacturer to recruit a Technology Manager.

Despite the title, you don't need previous management experience. The company is particularly interested in hands-on Electronics Engineers who enjoy solving technical problems and are looking to step into a role with greater responsibility.

The business develops microprocessor-controlled equipment used in gas and water infrastructure worldwide. It's a small, established engineering company with the financial backing of a major international group.

The Role

You'll become the company's technical expert, supporting existing electronic products while helping drive improvements and future technology.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating electronic faults and supporting repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Providing technical guidance to production teams, engineers and customers.
  • Overseeing external electronics and embedded software development partners.
  • Testing and validating hardware and software changes.
  • Improving existing products and helping shape new technology, including next-generation battery-powered equipment.

This isn't a full-time design or coding position. You'll remain closely involved in practical engineering while taking greater ownership of technical decisions and product development.

What We're Looking For

A strong electronics background with experience in fault-finding, product support, servicing or development. An understanding of embedded software would be beneficial.

Previous management experience and a degree are not essential. The priority is finding someone technically capable who wants to progress.

  • Option to work 39 hours over 4 days, giving you a three-day weekend
  • Flexible working hours and occasional home working
  • Private medical insurance
  • Opportunity to influence product development and progress into technical leadership
