Massage Therapist
Key Responsibilities
The therapist will be responsible for providing professional and high-quality wellness and tuina services to customers, including:
- Tuina & Wellness Services
- Perform traditional Chinese tuina (推拿), acupressure and meridian massage services.
- Provide full-body and targeted wellness massage according to customers' needs.
- Perform neck, shoulder, back, waist, leg and foot relaxation treatments.
- Apply appropriate massage techniques and pressure according to customer comfort and service requirements.
- Provide meridian relaxation and general wellness services within the therapist's permitted scope of practice.
- Assist with cupping, scraping/Gua Sha or other approved wellness services where appropriately trained and permitted.
- Assist customers using AVA's wellness equipment and Sand Therapy facilities in accordance with company procedures.
- Customer Service
- Welcome customers professionally and understand their preferred treatment areas and massage pressure.
- Explain available wellness services, treatment duration, packages and relevant precautions.
- Maintain customer comfort, dignity and privacy throughout each session.
- Observe customer feedback during treatment and adjust techniques appropriately.
- Provide general post-treatment wellness and self-care advice within the therapist's scope of practice.
- Sales & Customer Retention
- Introduce suitable AVA wellness services, treatment packages and memberships based on customers' genuine needs.
- Assist in promoting relevant wellness products and services.
- Encourage repeat visits through good service quality and customer relationship management.
- Work towards reasonable individual and outlet sales/service targets.
- Participate in AVA promotional campaigns, membership programmes and customer retention activities.
- No hard selling or misleading sales practices are permitted.
Requirements
- Preferably 1–3 years of relevant experience in tuina, wellness massage, spa or related services.
- Relevant massage, tuina or wellness certification is preferred.
- Good practical knowledge of traditional Chinese tuina, meridian massage and acupressure techniques.
- Able to perform physically demanding massage treatments for multiple customers during a working day.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Mandarin-speaking ability is advantageous due to AVA's TCM and Chinese wellness environment; ability to communicate in basic English is preferred.
- Professional, responsible, punctual and well-groomed.
- Strong awareness of customer privacy and professional boundaries.
- Team-oriented and willing to learn AVA's service standards.
- Candidates must have the legal right to work in Singapore or be eligible for an appropriate work pass where applicable.
Important Scope of Practice
The Massage/Tuina Therapist must not independently diagnose medical conditions, prescribe Chinese medicine, perform acupuncture or represent himself/herself as a registered TCM Physician unless separately qualified and registered to do so.
Where a customer's condition requires TCM diagnosis, acupuncture, medical treatment or professional clinical assessment, the customer should be referred to AVA's registered TCM Physician.
Proposed Salary & Commission Package
Basic Salary
S$1,800 – S$2,200 per month + commission
