Transport Manager

Cardiff Full-time, Permanent Salary: £50,000 Autograph Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with an established and growing business within the waste and recycling sector. We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead a busy Cardiff-based operation and make a genuine impact on its performance and future development. This is a highly visible, hands-on role with full responsibility for the fleet, drivers, compliance and day-to-day transport operation. You will have the autonomy to introduce improvements, increase efficiency and develop a safe, reliable and commercially focused transport function. Key responsibilities Lead the day-to-day transport operation, managing the fleet, drivers and wider transport team

Work closely with the Transport Planner to improve routes, efficiency and customer service

Ensure vehicle availability through effective maintenance and repair scheduling

Monitor fuel usage, vehicle performance, costs and operational KPIs

Maintain full compliance with Operator Licence requirements, drivers’ hours and tachograph regulations

Ensure all transport, inspection and compliance records are accurate and up to date

Review transport costs and identify opportunities to improve performance

Promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture

Lead, support and develop drivers and transport employees

What we’re looking for Transport Manager CPC qualification – essential

Proven experience managing a busy transport operation

A strong understanding of UK transport legislation and Operator Licence compliance

Experience managing a fleet and leading a team of drivers

Strong commercial awareness and the ability to improve operational performance

Confident leadership, communication and problem-solving skills

A practical, hands-on and solutions-focused approach

Experience within waste, recycling or logistics would be advantageous
