Steel Fixer

Key Responsibilities: Read and interpret construction drawings, reinforcement schedules, and specifications. Cut, bend, position, and fix steel reinforcement bars (rebar) according to drawings. Assemble reinforcement cages, beams, columns, slabs, walls, and foundations. Use hand and power tools to cut, bend, tie, and secure reinforcement steel. Ensure reinforcement is correctly positioned, aligned, spaced, and securely tied. Install spacers, chairs, and supports to maintain the required concrete cover. Work closely with steel fixers, carpenters, concrete workers, and site supervisors. Check completed reinforcement work before concrete is poured. Maintain tools and equipment and keep the work area clean and organised. Follow site safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times. Work at heights and in confined areas where required. Requirements

Previous experience as a Steel Fixer/Rebar Worker in construction. Ability to read and understand reinforcement drawings and measurements. Good knowledge of rebar cutting, bending, tying, and fixing techniques. Physically fit and able to handle heavy materials. Comfortable working outdoors and in different weather conditions. Good attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Relevant construction/steel fixing training or certification is an advantage. Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
