Social Media Manager & Content Creator
Company Description Aura is a digital lifestyle and culture magazine for young Africans figuring out relationships, money, ambition, identity, career and everything in between. As part of the wider Dortdash group, Aura is built around culture, creativity and conversations that matter to our audience. We’re constantly looking for new ways to turn what’s happening around us and online into stories and content people can relate to and actually want to engage with.
Role Description The Social Media Manager & Content Creator is a full-time hybrid role based in Lagos, responsible for managing Aura’s social media presence while also supporting content and social media projects across DortDash, its subsidiaries and client brands. The role involves developing content strategies, creating platform-specific content, planning content calendars, writing compelling copy, producing short-form videos and graphics, monitoring trends, managing online communities and analysing performance across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and LinkedIn. The role also requires regular on-site attendance for client shoots, events and activations. We’re looking for someone who gets the internet, notices interesting conversations and cultural moments, and can turn trends, everyday observations and audience behaviour into content people actually want to engage with.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of social media platforms, internet culture, trends and audience behaviour. Ability to create engaging, social-first content, including carousels, Reels, TikToks, Stories, graphics and written posts. Strong copywriting skills, particularly in writing compelling hooks, captions and CTAs. Creative instinct and ability to identify interesting content angles, generate original ideas and explain why they will work. Ability to develop content calendars and execute campaigns for different brands and audiences. Proficiency in smartphone photography/videography and short-form video editing. Ability to monitor analytics, understand audience reactions and use insights to improve content. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone across different brands. Familiarity with Canva, CapCut or similar tools. Curiosity, initiative and willingness to experiment, receive feedback and pitch ideas. Comfortable attending client shoots, events and activations across Lagos. Previous experience is an advantage, but a strong portfolio, personal page or demonstrated content-creation skills can be considered in place of formal experience.
