Since its spin-off in September 2025, AUMOVIO has continued the activities of the Automotive division of the Continental group, now as an independent company. A technological leader in electronics, AUMOVIO offers a complete portfolio of innovative solutions that make mobility safer, more connected, autonomous, and exciting. Its expertise covers sensors, displays, braking and comfort systems, as well as next-generation software, architectures, and assistance systems. During the 2025 fiscal year, AUMOVIO achieved a turnover of 18.5 billion euros. Based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, AUMOVIO employs approximately 82,000 employees across more than 80 sites worldwide.

Integrated into the Wireless Communications (WLC) team, composed of 30 employees and specializing in wireless communication systems, radar functions, and Convenient Smart Access solutions, you will be based at our Toulouse site. You will work in close proximity to our RF System Architect, and in this capacity, your missions will be as follows: Study and modeling: Perform an in-depth state-of-the-art study on 8 GHz IR-UWB (Impulse Radio Ultra-Wideband) localization, body shadowing mitigation techniques, and radar and ToF modes within the framework of the IEEE 802.15.4z standard Model and characterize the body effect at 8 GHz through simulation: develop a propagation model around the human body, analyze attenuation as a function of the azimuthal angle, and produce realistic coverage diagrams Algorithmic development: Design and develop a hybrid localization algorithm combining radar mode (exploitation of environmental reflections) and ToF mode, capable of operating with only a single visible transceiver — a frequent situation due to body shadowing Implement a data fusion filter (Extended Kalman filter, Unscented, or particle filter) integrating heterogeneous measurements: distance, angle of arrival, radial velocity, and radar mapping Conduct Monte-Carlo type simulations to evaluate and optimize the algorithm's performance Experimental validation: Set up a UWB test bench in an indoor environment (anchor deployment, calibration, data collection) Conduct measurement campaigns with controlled body shadowing scenarios (various orientations of the wearer, walking, standing) Analyze experimental results, compare them to simulations, and evaluate the accuracy, robustness, and latency of the proposed system

Education: Student in the final year of engineering school or in Master 2 / 3rd cycle, in a final year internship Specialty: Radiofrequencies, Telecommunications, Signal Processing, or Electronics Technical skills: Solid knowledge of RF wave propagation and wireless communication systems Proficiency in Python (NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib) and/or MATLAB for simulation and data processing Experience or knowledge in RF measurement devices (spectrum analyzers, VNA, oscilloscopes…) Notions of Bayesian filtering (Kalman, particle filter) are appreciated Knowledge of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology and/or the IEEE 802.15.4z standard is a plus Personal qualities: Autonomy, scientific rigor, and analytical mindset Technical curiosity and a taste for R&D Good writing skills (technical reports, internship thesis) Technical English reading and writing (documentation, scientific publications)
