Dairy farm assistant

Dairy Farm Assistant required for a full-time, permanent position on a dairy farm.
The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day care and management of the dairy herd.
Duties include:
- milking cows,
- operating and cleaning milking equipment,
- feeding and watering livestock,
- calf rearing,
- assisting during calving,
- monitoring animal health and welfare,
- safely moving and handling livestock,
- maintaining farm hygiene and biosecurity standards,
- assisting with grassland management,
- fencing and general farm maintenance,
- and operating tractors and farm machinery where appropriately trained.
Applicants should have:
- previous practical dairy farming or livestock experience,
- good animal husbandry skills and knowledge of milking procedures, livestock welfare, hygiene and biosecurity.
Candidates must be:
- reliable,
- hardworking,
- physically fit,
- able to follow instructions and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
Experience operating farm machinery is desirable. An agricultural qualification is advantageous but not essential where relevant practical experience has been obtained.
