Responsibilities and assignments
- Develop geomechanical studies to support mine planning and mine operations, ensuring the stability of excavations and operational safety in open-pit and underground mines.
- Monitor and evaluate the stability of excavations and geotechnical structures, using technologies such as radars, InSAR, prisms, extensometers, piezometers, and microseismic systems.
- Perform geotechnical and hydrogeological analyses, interpreting instrumentation data and calibrating geotechnical and hydrogeological models.
- Prepare risk maps, TARPs, action plans, and technical recommendations to ensure operational safety.
- Define excavation support criteria, installation QA/QC, and containment standards according to geotechnical domains.
- Execute geomechanical classifications (RMR, Q, and GSI), numerical modeling, and back-analyses to support decision-making, defining geotechnical domains and technical criteria for defining support and containment.
- Plan, execute, and interpret geotechnical monitoring of slopes, piles, galleries, chambers, pillars, and other geotechnical structures, using instrumentation and monitoring technologies.
- Develop, calibrate, and validate geomechanical and hydrogeological models, using field data, instrumentation, and monitoring to support decision-making.
- Evaluate excavation stability and support mine planning and sequencing, focusing on underground methods, especially Sublevel Caving (SLC) and Block Caving, including stability, draw control, subsidence, and cave propagation.
- Lead the interpretation of data from geotechnical, hydrogeological, and microseismic monitoring systems, defining alert levels and preventive actions to maintain operational stability.
- Provide technical support to the Planning, Operations, Geology, Ventilation, and SSMA teams, contributing to decisions related to excavation stability, dilution control, and operational continuity.
- Develop technical reports, indicators, and integrated analyses, using modeling tools, mine planning, and data analysis to support strategic decisions.
- Act as a technical reference in geomechanics, promoting continuous process improvement, the dissemination of best practices, and the technical development of internal and contracted teams.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements, technical standards, and internal procedures related to geotechnics, geomechanics, and mining operation safety.
