About this Position

This role focuses on building and optimizing high-performance Android applications that deliver smooth, responsive, and seamless user experiences. You will collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and Engineering teams to develop new features, improve application performance, and deliver fluid UI transitions and animations comparable to leading quick-commerce applications such as Blinkit and Zepto. You will also take ownership of performance profiling, troubleshooting, and optimization across app startup time, CPU utilization, frozen frames, memory consumption, and UI rendering. Additionally, you will explore and leverage AI tools to improve development efficiency and support practical implementation in daily engineering workflows.

As our Astronaut, your missions are:

Lead the development, optimization, and maintenance of Android applications, ensuring high performance, reliability, scalability, and code quality.

Identify, diagnose, and resolve performance bottlenecks related to app startup time, screen load time, CPU utilization, frozen frames, memory consumption, and UI rendering.

Implement smooth UI transitions, animations, gestures, and micro-interactions to deliver a responsive and seamless user experience comparable to Blinkit and Zepto.

Profile and optimize Android rendering performance, scrolling behavior, frame rendering time, and main-thread execution to minimize UI jank and frozen frames.

Collaborate with Product and Design teams to translate UI/UX requirements into polished, high-performance Android experiences.

Establish performance benchmarks, monitor production metrics, and continuously improve application responsiveness and resource efficiency.

Lead technical design discussions, break down complex engineering problems into actionable tasks, and ensure timely, high-quality feature delivery.

Perform code reviews, mentor engineers, and promote best practices in Android development, performance optimization, testing, and maintainable architecture.

Take ownership of the full product lifecycle, including development, testing, release, production monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Explore and leverage AI tools or technologies to improve development efficiency and support practical implementation in daily engineering workflows, including coding, debugging, refactoring, test generation, and documentation.

Evaluate AI-generated code and solutions to ensure correctness, security, maintainability, and performance before integrating them into production applications.

In order to launch successfully, you need to have:

Minimum 3-4 years of experience in software engineering, with strong hands-on experience in native Android application development.

Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Android SDK, Android Jetpack libraries, and modern Android development practices.

Solid experience with Jetpack Compose and/or the Android View system, including advanced UI rendering, animations, transitions, and gesture handling.

Proven experience identifying and resolving Android performance issues related to application startup, screen load time, CPU utilization, frozen frames, frame rendering time, and memory consumption.

Hands-on experience with performance profiling and debugging tools such as Android Studio Profiler, Perfetto, Android GPU Inspector, Firebase Performance, and LeakCanary.

Strong understanding of Android's rendering pipeline, frame deadlines, VSync, main-thread execution, garbage collection, memory allocation, and CPU/GPU utilization.

Proven ability to build smooth, responsive UI experiences, including complex animations, seamless navigation transitions, optimized scrolling, skeleton loading states, and interactive components.

Experience optimizing lists, image loading, caching, asynchronous processing, and background operations using technologies such as RecyclerView, Kotlin Coroutines, and Flow.

Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns, including MVVM or MVI, dependency injection, modularization, and clean code principles.

Experience with application performance monitoring, benchmarking, production troubleshooting, and regression prevention.

Practical experience exploring and using AI-powered development tools to improve coding productivity, debugging, testing, refactoring, and other everyday engineering workflows.

Ability to validate AI-assisted implementations and ensure that generated solutions meet production standards for performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.

Good understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including testing, CI/CD, release management, production monitoring, and maintenance.

Possesses a curious and proactive mindset, continuously seeking feedback, learning new technologies, and exploring better engineering practices to improve application performance and development efficiency.
