  1. Structural Engineering Discipline Leadership

Lead the structural engineering team across assigned projects. Allocate structural engineering activities to engineers, senior engineers, and structural designers based on project priorities, workload, and competence. Provide technical direction, mentoring, and support to structural engineering team members. Review workload and resource requirements and report requirements to management. Monitor structural design productivity, deliverable progress, and project milestones. Ensure consistent structural design standards, engineering principles, and technical practices are implemented across projects. Support recruitment, technical interviews, and assessment of structural engineering candidates when required. Support professional development and competency improvement within the structural engineering team. Establish and maintain high standards of structural engineering quality, safety, and documentation. Lead technical discussions and resolve complex structural engineering issues. Provide engineering guidance on structural systems, materials, analysis methodologies, and constructability.

  1. Structural Design Management

Lead and oversee the development of structural engineering designs for buildings, infrastructure, and associated developments, including as applicable: Concept and feasibility studies. Structural system selection and optimization. Structural design criteria and basis of design. Preliminary structural design. Schematic structural design. Design development. Detailed structural design. Structural analysis and modelling. Foundation design. Superstructure design. Concrete and reinforced concrete structures. Structural steel structures. Composite structures where applicable. Post-tensioned structures where applicable. Masonry and other structural systems where applicable. Retaining walls and earth-retaining structures. Basement structures. Underground structures. Roof structures. Canopies and external structures. Temporary and permanent works interfaces where applicable. Structural strengthening and modification works where applicable. Seismic and wind design. Durability and robustness considerations. Structural fire-resistance requirements.   1. Structural Analysis and Design Development

Ensure appropriate development, analysis, checking, and technical review of: Structural analysis models. Structural calculations. Design calculations and design reports. Load assessments. Load combinations. Gravity load analysis. Lateral load analysis. Wind analysis and design. Seismic analysis and design. Stability analysis. Foundation analysis and design. Soil-structure interaction where applicable. Reinforced concrete design. Structural steel design. Connection design. Composite structural design where applicable. Retaining wall design. Basement and underground structure design. Structural framing plans. Foundation plans. Column layouts. Beam layouts. Slab layouts. Roof structural plans. Elevations and sections. Structural details.   1. Design Deliverables

Lead preparation and review of: Structural Design Basis Reports. Structural Design Criteria. Structural calculations. Structural analysis reports. Concept structural design packages. Preliminary and schematic structural design packages. Detailed structural design packages. Structural design development packages. Structural drawings. Foundation plans and details. Framing plans. Column, beam, slab, and roof plans. Structural sections and elevations. Reinforcement drawings and schedules. Structural steel drawings and details. Connection details where applicable.   1. Saudi Regulatory and Engineering Code Compliance

Ensure structural designs comply with applicable requirements including: Saudi Building Code and applicable structural requirements. Saudi Civil Defense requirements where applicable. Municipality and local authority requirements. Royal Commission requirements where applicable. Project-specific authority requirements. Applicable Saudi standards and regulations governing structural safety and construction. Applicable geotechnical and foundation requirements. Requirements relating to seismic design, wind loading, fire resistance, structural robustness, durability, and structural integrity. International standards and guidelines shall be applied where applicable and where consistent with project and Saudi requirements, including relevant: International Building Code (IBC). American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) standards. American Concrete Institute (ACI) standards. American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) standards. ASTM standards. British Standards / BS EN standards. Eurocodes where applicable. NFPA requirements relating to structural fire resistance and life safety where applicable. ISO standards where applicable. Other internationally recognized structural engineering standards relevant to the project. The Lead Structural Engineer shall identify any conflicts between standards and ensure that the governing project requirement is clearly established and documented.

  1. Authority and Municipality Coordination

Lead technical coordination with relevant Saudi authorities and municipalities. Coordinate structural submissions and approval requirements. Prepare and review structural authority submission packages. Respond to authority technical comments related to structural design. Attend technical meetings with authorities and stakeholders. Monitor structural approval status. Coordinate revisions required to achieve timely approvals. Ensure authority requirements are incorporated into the structural design and project documentation. Provide technical clarification and supporting calculations when required by authorities.

  1. Multidisciplinary Coordination

Coordinate structural engineering requirements with: Architecture. Civil Engineering. Geotechnical Engineering. Electrical Engineering. Mechanical Engineering. HVAC. Public Health / Plumbing. Fire & Life Safety. Telecom and ICT. Security. Infrastructure. Utilities. Landscape. Interior Design. Sustainability. BIM. Specialist consultants. Process engineering where applicable. The Lead Structural Engineer shall ensure: Structural systems are properly integrated with architectural layouts. Structural grids and column locations are coordinated with architectural planning. Structural framing is coordinated with MEP requirements. Plant rooms and technical spaces are structurally coordinated. Equipment loads and access requirements are appropriately considered. Openings, penetrations, sleeves, and embedded items are properly coordinated. Structural floor-to-floor requirements are coordinated with architectural and MEP requirements. Slab depths and structural zones are compatible with building services. Shafts, risers, ceiling voids, and service zones are properly coordinated. Structural interfaces with façades and building envelopes are resolved. Structural interfaces with foundations and civil works are coordinated. Temporary and permanent works interfaces are appropriately addressed. Construction sequencing and structural stability requirements are considered. Architectural and engineering changes are assessed for structural impact.

  1. BIM and Digital Engineering Coordination

Lead implementation of BIM requirements within the structural engineering discipline. Coordinate with BIM Managers and BIM Coordinators. Ensure structural models comply with project LOD/LOI requirements. Participate in multidisciplinary clash-detection reviews. Review model-based design issues affecting structural systems. Ensure alignment between BIM models, drawings, specifications, schedules, and structural design information. Promote effective use of BIM and digital engineering tools throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure structural information is developed in accordance with the project BIM Execution Plan. Coordinate analytical models with BIM models where applicable. Ensure structural model integrity and consistency across project deliverables. Support digital coordination, model reviews, and multidisciplinary design integration.

  1. Technical Assurance and Quality

Perform technical reviews of structural designs and calculations. Ensure structural designs undergo appropriate checking and approval before issue. Conduct interdisciplinary structural design reviews. Participate in technical assurance and project gateway reviews. Identify structural design risks and ensure they are mitigated. Ensure technical comments are properly addressed before final submission. Review design compliance with project requirements and applicable codes. Review structural analysis methodologies and design assumptions. Ensure appropriate engineering factors, load cases, load combinations, and design criteria are applied. Review structural calculations prepared by the engineering team. Promote lessons learned and standardization across projects. Maintain compliance with Assystem's Quality Management System. Ensure consistency, safety, accuracy, and quality across all structural deliverables. Support independent design checking and peer review processes where required.

  1. Client and Stakeholder Interface

Represent the structural engineering discipline during Client meetings. Present structural design concepts, solutions, and recommendations. Respond to Client technical and engineering comments. Coordinate with Client technical and engineering teams. Attend authority, contractor, consultant, and stakeholder meetings. Support the Project Manager in resolving structural and engineering-related stakeholder issues. Provide clear structural engineering recommendations where multiple solutions are available. Present structural design options and technical evaluations. Explain structural design assumptions, constraints, risks, and proposed solutions. Maintain effective communication with Clients and project stakeholders.

  1. Tender and Construction Support

When included within project scope: Respond to bidder technical queries. Review structural technical submissions. Assist with tender technical evaluations. Review contractor structural design proposals. Review structural material submissions. Review shop drawings. Review reinforcement drawings and structural fabrication drawings where applicable. Respond to RFIs. Support technical resolution of site structural issues. Participate in design-change reviews. Review proposed substitutions and value-engineering proposals. Review temporary works proposals where applicable. Review structural mock-ups and material samples where applicable. Participate in site inspections when required. Support structural testing, inspection, commissioning, and project handover activities where applicable. Review structural snagging and close-out requirements. Review as-built structural documentation where applicable. Provide technical support during construction and respond to structural non-conformances.

  1. Value Engineering, Sustainability and Innovation

Identify opportunities to optimize structural design solutions. Evaluate alternative structural systems considering CAPEX, OPEX, functionality, constructability, durability, maintainability, and whole-life performance. Optimize structural member sizes and material quantities while maintaining required safety and performance. Evaluate alternative structural materials and systems. Promote efficient use of concrete, reinforcement, structural steel, and other construction materials. Support low-carbon and sustainability objectives. Consider embodied carbon and material efficiency in structural design decisions. Optimize structural grids, spans, floor systems, and foundation solutions. Evaluate materials based on structural performance, durability, availability, cost, and sustainability. Encourage appropriate use of advanced analysis, BIM, automation, and digital engineering tools. Support standardization of structural solutions across projects. Promote innovative structural engineering approaches while maintaining technical, safety, constructability, and commercial feasibility.

Essential Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized university. 12–15 years of relevant structural engineering design experience. Strong experience in structural design of buildings and infrastructure. Demonstrable experience leading structural engineering teams. Significant experience with multidisciplinary engineering consultancy or design organizations. Strong experience in concept, preliminary, schematic, detailed design, tender documentation, and construction support. Strong experience in structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete and/or structural steel systems. Experience with large-scale and complex projects. Experience coordinating structural design with architectural, MEP, civil, geotechnical, and other engineering disciplines. Experience with Saudi Arabian projects is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of structural design codes and engineering standards. Demonstrable experience in technical review, checking, and design assurance. Professional Registration Valid or eligible professional registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers. Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer, or equivalent international professional registration is advantageous. Membership of recognized professional engineering institutions is advantageous.
