Nuclear Siting Geologist / Engineer - INTERNSHIP - M/F
Responding to the challenges of the energy transition and strengthening our sovereignty are 21st-century priorities. At the heart of these issues, Assystem accompanies its clients in the realization of their most strategic projects. And to achieve this, our 8,000 Switchers mobilize their expertise in engineering, project management, and digital. Present in 13 countries (Europe, Middle East, Central Asia, North America), we contribute to the development of new nuclear electricity production capacities, the maintenance of existing installations in operational conditions, as well as the design and realization of critical infrastructures, particularly in the defense sector.
Your future team Under the responsibility of Romain, Reference Engineer in Geology and Geotechnics, you will join a dynamic and committed team serving the energy transition. The objective is to structure and apply site screening and site selection methodologies, to identify compatible areas through a GIS mapping approach, to compare candidate sites, and to ensure the traceability of the hypotheses leading to recommendations. Your missions:
- Analyze the data necessary for site screening:
Collect and analyze geological and geophysical data: regional geology, active faults, seismicity, subsoil, and ground instabilities; Integrate geotechnical characteristics as well as hydrogeological, hydrological, and environmental conditions useful for site evaluation. Create and structure the databases necessary for site screening, ensuring the quality, consistency, and traceability of information; Study the applicable national regulatory framework as well as international recommendations relating to the choice and evaluation of nuclear sites.
- Harmonize and map data in a GIS environment:
Structure and harmonize vector, raster, and tabular data in QGIS and the GIS tools used by the team; Map technically admissible zones based on exclusion and alert criteria, notably using buffer zones and exclusion maps.
- Characterize and compare candidate sites:
Implement a multi-criteria analysis to characterize and compare candidate sites; Document criteria, hypotheses, and results to guarantee the traceability of recommendations.
- Capitalize on results and contribute to siting methods:
Produce maps, comparison tables, site fact sheets, reasoned texts, and decision-support materials intended for teams and clients; Collaborate with experts from different disciplines and participate in the siting team's exchanges; Contribute to the improvement and digitalization of Assystem's siting methods. Why join us? 📈 Rapidly develop your skills thanks to high value-added missions, close support, and a structured integration process including follow-up points throughout your internship. 🤝 Evolve in a benevolent environment where team spirit is a reality: 87% of our interns and apprentices highlight the quality of the social climate at Assystem. 🎯 Build your professional future within a group that recruits more than 100 interns every year and where 75% of interns continue the adventure in a CDI or apprenticeship!
Your assets and prerequisites: You are preparing a training in geology or geophysics at a Bac+5 level (engineering school or Master's). You have notions in geotechnics, hydrology, hydrogeology and/or Python programming. You have good knowledge of regional geology, subsoil analysis, hazards, and natural risks. You master QGIS; knowledge of DeepGIS is a plus. You demonstrate rigor, an analytical mind, enjoy teamwork in a multidisciplinary environment, and possess a good level of English.
We are committed to respecting equal treatment between candidates, and we cultivate all forms of diversity. At Assystem, only skills matter! If you wish to bring any situation or specific needs to the attention of Assystem, do not hesitate: you will be supported!
