Junior Network Engineer

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a motivated Junior Network Engineer who is keen to develop a career in network infrastructure and enterprise IT solutions.

The Role

As a Junior Network Engineer, you will provide day-to-day network infrastructure support within the customer’s environment.

You will work closely with the customer’s IT team and relevant vendors to support network operations, troubleshoot connectivity issues and assist with network implementation and maintenance activities.

This role is suitable for candidates who enjoy hands-on technical support, working directly with users and stakeholders, and developing practical experience in an enterprise IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical support and administration for network infrastructure and equipment.
• Monitor network availability and performance and assist in resolving Level 1 network connectivity issues.
• Troubleshoot basic LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and network connectivity issues.
• Assist in the configuration, installation and deployment of switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls and other network devices.
• Support network infrastructure implementation based on approved network designs and technical standards.
• Assist with incident tickets, service requests and change requests, including proper documentation and timely updates.
• Perform basic troubleshooting involving TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP and network connectivity.
• Support network equipment installation, rack mounting, patching and structured cabling activities.
• Coordinate with cabling contractors and vendors for structured cabling works and verify completed work where required.
• Assist senior engineers with troubleshooting and maintenance of LAN/WAN and other core network infrastructure.
• Support network upgrades, migration activities, testing and implementation projects.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, device inventories, configuration records and technical documentation.
• Escalate complex network incidents to senior engineers or vendors and assist with follow-up until resolution.
• Follow the Company's technical, cybersecurity and change-management procedures.
• Perform other network and infrastructure-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering or a related discipline.
• Fresh graduates with relevant networking knowledge, internship experience or hands-on experience are welcome to apply.
• Candidates with 1–2 years of experience in network support, IT infrastructure, NOC or technical support will have an advantage.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts including: TCP/IP and IP addressing; Subnetting; LAN/WAN; VLANs; Routing and switching; DNS and DHCP; Wi-Fi/network connectivity
• Basic knowledge or hands-on exposure to network switches, routers, wireless access points and firewalls.
• Familiarity with structured cabling, patch panels and network equipment installation would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, HPE or other enterprise networking technologies would be an advantage.
• CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Fortinet or equivalent networking certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to maintain proper technical documentation and update support tickets accurately.
• Customer-oriented, responsible and willing to learn.
• Able to work independently on assigned tasks as well as collaboratively within a technical team.
