About the company

Ascento is an ETH Zurich spin off on a mission to bring the physical security industry into the digital era with robotics and AI. We build autonomous outdoor security robots and own the full stack: hardware, software and service operations, all offered as Robotics as a Service. Our robots protect data centers, logistics hubs, manufacturing sites, airports and other critical infrastructure in Switzerland, France, Belgium, Denmark, Austria and the US. Our customers include security companies and Fortune 500 companies. Our factories and repair hubs are in Zurich and New York.

Our values: Customer Trust Comes First, Own the Outcome, Move Fast, One Team High Standards, No Bullshit.

Your tasks

  1. Investigate robot issues in the field, find the root cause and pinpoint which component is faulty.
  2. Design and run robot tests, both factory acceptance tests and pre deployment tests.
  3. Keep our robots running by using data analysis to find common failures and passing them to the development team.
  4. Coordinate the release of new software features and deploy them to the robot fleet.
  1. You will learn a lot about robotics, infrastructure and testing in this role, but it is not a software development role. You will build tools to test and debug, but not core algorithms like navigation or perception.
  2. You will have to handle chaotic situations with several robot issues at the same time.
  3. If you think you don’t tick every box, don’t worry. We want someone who can learn fast and has the right attitude to make it work. So just give it a go. We reply to every application.

Requirements

Role We are looking for a fast learning robotics engineering intern with a hands on attitude to help coordinate our growing fleet, test robots and support customer deployments.

  2. Hands on experience with robotics, ideally involving both software and hardware.
  3. Familiar with common robotics tools like Ubuntu, ROS, Python, shell, Docker, etc.
  4. Multidisciplinary and not scared to get your hands dirty, whether replacing robot parts or learning new programming languages and tools.
  5. Goal driven and independent: getting robots working properly is the top priority, and you can figure out how to do it.
  6. Good English skills (C1 level).
