Industrial 442a Electrician
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician to build, install, test and troubleshoot electrical systems for custom automation equipment. This role combines hands-on control panel and machine wiring with shop commissioning and customer-site installation and support. The electrician will also guide panel builders and other electricians, maintain workmanship standards and work closely with the rest of the project team.
*Job Duties*
*Responsibilities:*
- Lay out, assemble and wire industrial control panels, including PLC and I/O hardware, VFDs, motor controls, safety components, instrumentation and wire harnesses.
- Interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, bills of materials and equipment documentation; identify discrepancies and communicate required corrections.
- Install, route, label and terminate machine and field wiring for sensors, actuators, motors, safety devices, network equipment and instrumentation.
- Test panels and equipment, verify wiring against drawings, document deficiencies and complete corrections before release or installation.
- Support machine power-up, I/O checkout, commissioning, troubleshooting and debugging in the shop and at customer sites; work with controls and robotics personnel to resolve issues.
- Lead and coordinate assigned electrical and panel-building work, provide practical guidance to junior team members and review completed work for quality and readiness.
- Work with engineering to improve electrical designs, panel layouts, build methods and documentation; participate in continuous improvement of shop standards.
- Install power runs for various types of equipment and machines
- Apply safe work practices and complete work in accordance with applicable electrical codes, customer requirements and relevant CSA or UL standards.
- Take ownership of assigned work by proactively identifying outstanding tasks, seeking the information or support needed, and following through to completion in line with project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.

*Qualifications:*
- Valid 442A license. Candidates with a 309A license will also be considered
- 3-5 years of experience within the industrial automation field, industrial electrical systems, and building and wiring industrial control panels.
- Knowledge and understanding of the CEC and OESC
- Ability to read and interpret detailed electrical drawings and troubleshoot power, control, I/O and safety circuits using appropriate test equipment.
- Working knowledge of PLC-based control systems, VFDs, motor control, industrial wiring practices and machine electrical installation.
- Ability to work independently, organize assigned work, guide others and maintain accurate, high-quality workmanship.
- Clear communication and effective collaboration with shop personnel, engineering and customers.
*Assets*
- Experience with industrial networks such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET or CAN-based systems.
- Experience with machine safety circuits, emergency stops, safety relays and safety PLCs.
- Experience supporting robotics integration, machine commissioning and customer-site troubleshooting.
*Work Conditions*
- Work is primarily performed in the shop, with travel to customer sites in Canada and elsewhere in North America for installations, commissioning and support.
