Who are we? We are an engineering group, a major player in the fields of building, water, energy, industry, and mobility. 100% owned by our employees, we are united by a single passion: practicing a profession that combines the art of designing with ingenuity and the art of realizing with commitment. Our 11,000 employees, in more than 40 countries, create solutions every day for a positive life through our strategic challenges for the planet and humanity. Our teams are human-sized, prioritizing proximity, daily exchanges, and the sharing of experience. Hydroelectricity, developed with respect for the environment and local populations, meets the challenges of improving the quality of life for populations and the economic development of territories. Thus, it is fully part of a logic of energy and ecological transition. In accordance with its values and its commitment as a responsible company, Artelia fully participates in the development of dams and Hydroelectric developments as part of its engineering and consulting missions. To facilitate reading, inclusive writing is not used in the body of this announcement; terms used in the masculine also refer to women, men, and non-binary people.

Your missions: Design, verify, and dimension hydraulic structures, dams, and hydroelectric developments: intake canals, spillways, bottom outlet structures, gates and valves, water intakes and discharges, dissipation basins, etc., Perform pressurized hydraulic calculations and head loss calculations for waterways (conduits, components, equipment) in steady state, Study transient regimes (water hammer): hypotheses, scenarios, dimensioning/protection, interpretation of results, Lead 1D and 2D numerical hydraulic modeling studies or physical modeling (management of modeling teams, interpretation / synthesis of results), Write calculation notes, technical reports, and contributions to design files (FS / APS / APD / Tender) and/or execution according to the missions, Interfaces with the client, partners, and companies, Contribute to the strengthening of the team's technical framework (tools, methods, feedback) and share your expertise via training, publications, etc. To carry out these missions, you can count on the skills of your team as well as on Artelia's network of multidisciplinary experts. Your team: The Dams and Hydroelectricity activity is currently composed of about a hundred people, with all skills combined, working daily on large-scale projects at the design stage and in construction supervision. The activity operates mainly in the development of hydroelectric projects internationally, but also in the monitoring and rehabilitation of the existing dam fleet in France. The Hydraulic Structures Engineering team constitutes the expertise hub dedicated to the hydraulic engineering of dam and hydroelectric developments. It operates across the entire project cycle, from upstream studies to the execution phases, ensuring hydraulic and hydrological studies, the design of hydraulic structures (spillways, outlets, water intakes, canals, energy dissipators, waterways) as well as hydraulic, physical, and numerical modeling. A few project examples:

  • Leading the design of the Oxbow hydroelectric project in Lesotho (80 MW),
  • Carrying out scale model studies of the Isimba spillway in Uganda
  • Hydraulic dimensioning of the 2GW PSP of Wadi Dayqah in Oman

Your assets: With specialized training in hydraulics, you have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a design office on similar missions (hydraulic structures). Your autonomy, technical rigor, teamwork abilities, and finally your capacity for analysis and synthesis will be assets for the position. Good level of English is necessary given the international context of the projects. Knowledge of free-surface hydraulic software (Hec-Ras) and transient hydraulics software (Cebelmail or Simsen) is appreciated. You never work alone; a good team spirit, the ability to take a step back in your missions, great curiosity, and a sense of sharing and mutual aid with your colleagues will be your assets for success.
