About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees

Major duties

  • Develops long-range plans for depot maintenance programs.
  • Analyzes the performance and effectiveness of maintenance operations.
  • Serves as a liaison with other agencies, installations, and industries.
  • Directs maintenance missions through subordinate supervisors.
  • Administers personnel and labor-relations programs for the unit.

Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition. Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees)applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience at this level may include: Overseeing maintenance projects to ensure production goals are met; Analyzing production processes to improve operational efficiency; Ensuring production programs comply with organizational policies and leading a team in a production environment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
