Metal Processing Supervisor
About the Position: The Watervliet Arsenal is an Army-owned and -operated manufacturing center located in New York. It is the oldest, continuously active arsenal in the United States having begun operations in 1813.
Major duties
- Manage the complex industrial organization using modern management tools and systems for all forging, heat treatment, and machining.
- Supervise the manufacturing of composite materials and the operation of automated waterjet profile cutting equipment.
- Manage the testing of materials, including the manufacture and testing of tensile and charpy specimens.
- Act as a liaison to assist research engineers with matters related to cannon manufacturing technology.
- Exercise full supervisory responsibility over metal processing operations, rotary forge operations, and related pre-heat, post-heat, and quench operations; and welding and metal fabrication functions.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Metal Processing Supervisor without more than normal supervision which includes: (1) Exercising full supervisory or leader responsibility of operations such as: fabricating, welding, forging, repairing, manufacturing, and reconditioning of metal parts, components, assemblies, and/or subassemblies; (2) Supervising or leading employees engaged in technical work related to metal processing and/or manufacturing operations; and (3) Providing direction to others as well as instructing and demonstrating correct work methods - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Metals Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
