Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor
About the Position: Serve as a technical and administrative supervisor over the Facilities Maintenance organization at Arlington National Cemetery. Since May of 1864, Arlington National Cemetery has served as the nation's premier military cemetery and shrine honoring those men and women who served in the Armed Forces.
Major duties
- Direct the work of a diverse technical facilities maintenance organization and exercises full supervisory personnel management authority.
- Plan work to be accomplished by establishing priorities and ensuring work quality and adherence to schedules.
- Develop performance objectives, completes annual evaluations, and manages employee training, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
- Apply knowledge of multiple technical trades to plan the future work of facility maintenance staff.
- Determine staffing, equipment, materials, and scheduling needs to execute maintenance work efficiently and effectively.
- Assign tasks, explain work methods, reviews work in progress, and implements corrective actions to resolve work-related problems.
- Coordinate work across units while ensuring proper safety procedures.
- Direct emergency repair actions and manages staff responses during inclement weather, providing reports and briefings to senior leadership.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to lead others in planning, directing, and coordinating a wide range of facilities maintenance activities across multiple skilled trades-including plumbing, electrical work, pipefitting, carpentry, engineer equipment operations, and general maintenance. This includes the ability to assign work, establish priorities, interpret policies and procedures, and ensure quality and timely completion of tasks.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Lead or Supervise Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Physical Effort: The employee works in shops and job sites. Employees may be required to stand for extended periods while operating shop equipment. Work also may require considerable bending, kneeling, and stooping. Lifts objects weighing up to 50 pounds and lifts heavier items with assistance. Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, where there is frequent exposure to sever heat, extreme cold, inclement weather of all kinds, and work is performed in dusty, dirty, and greasy environment. Some work is performed in shop areas where the employee is exposed to moderate or high noise levels from operating machinery, dust and fumes. The employee is subject to cuts, bruises, and contusions.
