Your Profile

We are looking for a software developer with at least 2 years of professional experience to join the AppDirect Firstbase engineering team. You hold a degree in computer science (or a related field) or equivalent practical experience, which you use to tackle operational challenges with a tangible impact.

In this role, you will contribute to developing and deploying the Firstbase platform, which ensures the provisioning, tracking, and management of IT hardware, from employee onboarding to hardware return. You will develop software used daily by our warehouse, procurement, and client operations teams, as well as by our external clients.

What you will do and what will make you shine

Implement and maintain features for various Firstbase applications, including the product catalog, orders, order fulfillment, and customer service.

Develop and deploy REST and GraphQL APIs in Java (Spring), relying on advice from senior engineers for design and approach.

Work with PostgreSQL and various messaging systems (Kafka, SQS/SNS) as part of the platform's technical stack.

Contribute to the technical design of the features and user stories assigned to you, and explain technical trade-offs to your colleagues.

Ensure the quality of the projects you are responsible for: write tests at the appropriate layer (unit, integration, end-to-end), participate in code reviews, monitor changes through to production, and follow up on issues after deployment; quality is a shared responsibility between product, engineering, and quality assurance teams.

Collaborate closely with Firstbase operational teams (warehouse, procurement, and order fulfillment), who are key players in our success; translate their workflows and constraints into functional production software.

Collaborate on team deliveries and actively exchange feedback.

AI-assisted development: use of programming agents for defined tasks with review; you remain responsible for design intent, testing strategy, and the quality of the code merge.
