Anvil West Construction specializes in framing and forming high end custom homes on the west side of Vancouver. At present the Company is looking to fill a permanent full-time position for a Carpenters Apprentice. A minimum of one year of general construction experience is required, additional experience is considered an asset.

*REQUIRED PERSONALITY TRAITS / JOB SKILLS*

• You?re a hard worker with a positive attitude who is eager to learn and engage in the building process
• You are not easily bothered by weather conditions
• You can listen and take directions from senior team members and ask questions when you are unsure of the instructions or assignment you?ve been given.
• You posses good attention to detail and take pride in your work
• You are looking for long-term employment and are interested in learning about wood frame construction and concrete forming
• You are punctual and consistently show up on time for work

(Note: All job sites are located near bus routes)

*JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

The following list outlines the types of jobs / activities you will be trained to complete with the Company.

• Accurately measuring and cutting blocks, TJI?s, studs and sheathing for Journeymen carpenters
• Building wall layouts for wood frame walls
• Learning how to execute engineered floor layouts, install beams, hangers and fasteners
• Installing engineering components including (Hold-downs, hurricane clips, hangers etc..)
• You will be expected to look at architectural and structural drawings and *ask questions *in order to gain a base level understanding of the plans in order to support your development as a carpenter

*OTHER EXPECTATIONS*

• You are physically fit and do not have pre-existing injuries that would inhibit you in doing your job.
• You are able to lift 75lbs.
